How do you find it?

Yup, near Limoges in the Haute Vienne. Well my parents do anyway, I'm at uni but will be going back there when I'm finished. The village we live in holds a national sj event every year as do some others around us and we have local racing too, think it's quite a horsey area but I'm not there much and my parents aren't horsey so I can't tell you much about it.

You must be living near Pompadour. That's a beautiful area, quite soaky though during winter. It's well-known for three day events, Anglo-arabs.
Will you come back to France to work?

Gingerninja: it's a pity you're on your own... Perhaps this post will help you meet English-speaking people living in your area!

My parents live in Catus, Lot, somewhere around Sarlat and Cahors.
I can't get there this summer so will have to wait until next year now, I love France and wanted to move there but OH wouldn't go because of the language thing and work, so now we live here where everything is also written in French.

There are lots of English around here but none are hosey, we have one friend who is English and she is horsey, but she lives about an hou away

How long have you lived in Vienne?
Do you speak French?
Do you find it easy to mingle with the French in general?
(Sorry to ask all these questions but I'm kinda running a survey about the English community in France...)

I know some of the older people around here don't find it as easy but as long as they make an effort the Fench make an effort to understand....but have found that if the older people just speak and respond i English (why live in France if you going to talkEnglish
tongue.gif
) then the French don't make any effort at all but thats to be expected

I think it's much easier if you settle there when you're young.
Sooty, your friends are really lucky : this area is beautiful with its white stone tiny houses.

There so many ways of riding a horse!!!!
Where I ride, everything is done with the legs. It's logical... Balance is very important.
But when I see my pupils riding (i work in a school that provides riding lessons) I can only see people pulling their reins all the time, their legs apart! Poor horses!
It also depends if the horse is well-schooled. Most of the time riding clubs don't take enough time to ride their horses and their dressage is so poor...
I tend to think that in England the average level is higher. Am I right?
