I've not made numnahs, Although, when the horse I used to shade had a pink saddle cloths I was tempted to appliqué a pint and football on one to preserve our male dignity. (I gave up on that with the concept of "butch appliqué")

I do do the alterations on my competition clothes, just to get the fit nice. That jacket was so long I looked like a teddy-boy in it.

My favourite thing I have made for the BigBayLump is his ballgown. Fancy dress tack and turn out with fairy tale theme, he was the princess I was the pea.

Loving the bright pink ballgown :D I think mine would advertise themselves for sale if I dared to ;)

Loving the butch appliqué idea.

I make all sorts. Exercise sheets, numnahs, fleeces, mane and tail bags, showing attire. I love to sew just don't get enough time.

My next project are some fleece saddle covers that you can ride on.

He didn't do that, but when I left my phone in the stable I did come back to find it with no credit and dozens of calls to World Horse Welfare. (Apparently I'm mean with the polos too.)

LOL. Well I also have a big bay lump so may use your photo as blackmail next time she misbehaves ;)

What do people recommend as a good first time project for someone inexperienced??

I would love to make some new fleece saddle covers - just not the faintest idea where I would start!

I can't sew. I can't even thread a needle. My sons used to go to school with their their trouser trousers stapled up, a fact that I am never allowed to forget

I repair my own rugs, and specialise in removing flash loops from nosebands!

I'm going to order the jacket pattern from Suitability one day soon. My next project is a fly mask to attach to my bridle for summer in our dusty school.

I posted a pic of my hi-viz sheet on another thread:

And since we're posting non-horsey stuff as well, here are a couple of bags I made, intending to sell, but it didn't come off:

I love sewing!

Haha that made me laugh! I can't sew to save my life, my sis however is a dab hand - I must start dropping hints about purple matchy matchy :D ;)

That waistcoat is amazing. Very neat and tidy. I tried making one years ago as a school project and it never did quite hang right.
I made a pocket for my hi-viz vest yesterday (no sewing machine) does that count?
