What would be a fair price for the following horse:

6 y.o. welsh sec C/D 14.3hh gelding, black with white blaze and three white socks of unknown breeding but pretty and nicely put together.

Very green indeed, basically been in a field all his life and only started "proper" work in December. He has popped over a teeny jump on one occasion and was very calm and sensivle about it

Lacks manners, but is a quick learner, he's not nasty, just never had to be well mannered so is a bit pushy and bargy at the moment

Moves nicely and carries himself in a natural outline

Very safe hack, good on his own, in company and you can canter away from him on another horse without him getting silly.

Not a good traveller - he's never had to!

Had to be twitched to have front shoes on - he's fine to pick his feet up and have them fiddled with but had his first pair of front shoes on a couple of weeks ago and found that an ordeal

Clipping - he was done whilst twitched for the farrier (only a low chaser) so don't know if he'd be good or not.

Have been asked by a friend for a price but he's hard because he's a very safe confidence giving ride but he's done nothing and is green as grass so on one hand he's worth very little but on the over hand he's a good hack. What do you think?

Thank you

I'm not good at these questions but I've seen quite a few adverts for cobs that haven't done much ranging from £1250 with tack to £1500 without tack. Both horses were 12 yr olds though!

I'd have maybe though £1800 - £2300. As I've said though - I'm clueless!

I think I would have to say under £1000? (not too great at these either)
He sounds nice to hack etc, but all off these other problems will push his price right down. They are things that can easily be worked on though so can't your friend work on them and then sell for more?

Friend is thinking of buying him from friend of friend! A bit complicated but he's on trial now and no price has been discussed, yes, not a very good idea I know! Especially as he's now being schooled so will go up in value accordingly

Well at the minute you can buy some nice horses from £1000 normally Id ask £1800 or something but the market is pretty low at the min so Id say the £1000 mark if that.
