Fingers and paws crossed, I think we've turned a corner with Prince's allergies. After trying various diets with little success, we took Prince to an allergist last week. She concluded that his skin was covered in yeast and advised bathing him twice a week in apple cider vinegar. If this didn't work, she had a long list of other measures to try, but I was worried about the number and strength of drugs involved.
After two bathings, we are starting to witness the emergence of a scratch-lite Prince! Food wise, he is on a dry, grain-free, salmon food made by Canidae, and green tripe and berries for treats. Poultry and grains are his cryptonite.
Has anyone else tried apple cider vinegar baths for their allergic dog? I was skeptical about what seemed like such an easy solution, but it seems like it's working.
