Are all men like this?

My oh cant even work out how to put a headcollar on let alone a bridle, would never let him take off or put on any rug what so ever, and he is not a dumb human being he runs several very sucessfull companies and is a very intelligent person if baffles me !

Mine is the same but he can parallel park a car with only a couple of inches spare space.

I love my husband, he is a bit of a numpty in general but has gone from showing zero interest in the ponies to being quite useful

Its very sweet when he tries to catch one and they lead him a merry dance, he stands and reasons with them about how its in their interests to be caught, He chats away to them non stop :) I do have to stop him from treating them with conditioning cubes though!

No! all men aren't like this (I'm not anyway). Personally I can't understand why 'you lot' ;) (Women) have taken over which was once a bloke thing. Suppose it'll be football next.

My husband is great with the horses, he says they are nothing to do with him but he can't help stopping and chatting to them every time he passes the stable and making a fuss of them. When I have to work away he does everything for them and he is fantastic. He was reading a horsey magazine on the train the other day and the next day he asked if the horses are alright or will they get laminitis, amazing. Every horse my Dad fusses falls asleep, even the nutty ones, I don't know what it is about him maybe he is just a very calm person

My OH wasnt horsey at all when i met him. He is now great he can put a headcollar on the correct way, change rugs, fetch in and out and even has been known to muck out and do a great job lol!
He helps move hay, fix fencing etc but flatly refuses to fill haynets;)
He now tells people the are 'our' horses haha! however he is very much a summer man and isnt as keen when its cold wet and muddy but will still come if i need help :)

What i do find amazing is my OH is epileptic and the last couple of years it has become unstable plus he suffers with blood clots so is on blood thinning drugs. My horses are noticably different around him, even my bolshy hooligan of a cob is perfectly behaved around him. The fascinating thing was a few weeks back, we were at the yard and all of a sudden my cob came cantering to the fence and started acting up calling and pacing i went to see what was wrong and my partner who was in the neighbouring field was having a siezure.

He loves the horses and finds being around them theraputic but is sad he can no longer go by himself till his siezures are back under control.

Nope, mine is brill. He doesn't ride but supports me totally with my lot. It's partly his fault anyway, he helped me buy my foundation mare. He met me when I had my pony and it was a case of marry me, marry my pony (who incidentally came to the weddig anyway!).

When I was pregnant with our first he showed my foal for me. He poo picks, will go and feed them all, can just about sort out rugs. It's all about correct training! ;)

interesting thread. mu hubby has been riding since a child and is still just like the less horsey men = expects no movements unless asked etc. he has no patience with any animals either. he is feeding and poo picking while i am injured though

"Yes, I know which way round a head collar goes, and exactly how to put it on!" Said no man, ever.

I must take exception to that! lol I am well and truly (albeit reluctantly) converted into this odd little world with weird customs and tight trousers, but when I do it, I do it competently! Don't ask me plait and don't ask me to do the sheath cleaning, but anything else - no problem (if I absolutely have to)!

Sprinkles post #28 I think totally cracked me up laughing. In fact most of these posts here have made me laugh. But sprinkles reminds me of my OH he is petrified of horses. When he watched (very reluctantly) our Daughter show jumping he would be so proud but keep his hands over his eyes and peek through a gap in his fingers. One I think we forced him to stroke our boy's head he did it from arms length. He will not go near unless forced, he really doesn't dislike them he's just scared stiff of them

Mines banned from the yard! He had a fair proportion of the female liveries telling him how brilliant he was for coming there with me. Yes he was brilliant at pushing wheel barrows, but he was a bloody liability anywhere near the actual horse! :P
