Lol both very temptingTwo bargain basement big hunters on HQ. £4,500 will buy you a shiverer who can't pick its feet up and for a snip of £5,500 you can have an awesome hunter who bucks you off on a regular basis.

Absolutely thisTo be honest I say there is going to be a massive welfare problem . When everything gos back to normal a people are no longer working from home and they realize the time and money it takes to care for a horse.

Well, mine has been out SJ again today, she is ready for sale and I have put her on Horsequest. The advert is pending approval, so fingers crossed. She was brilliant, really happy to be back in more demanding work.
I did ring up about another one for me, this was also a 12yo, no particular form, and 8K. The owner was chalk and cheese to yesterday's though, when I contacted them she was very honest about his stifles being injected. That isn't something I would want, and I can't see her getting 8K for the horse with that drawback, but at least she was honest and up-front.
Nice But run of the mill horses between 6 and 12k are selling like hot cakes .
I am bemused.
Exactly because if breeders do not get a fair return why bother breeding them which will make good horses in the future even harder to find . For what it’s worth I buy young unbroken and have trained/train , not a cheap or quick way either but at least that way you get a good choice .Breeders have complained that they’ve never got a fair return on horses , which is true . We really shouldnt be complaining that average horses are fetching this much .
Long may it last .
Good luck Red. She sounds lovely and I reckon you'll be inundated with enquiries.
BTW, the horse that was £12,500 when I set off and £17,500 as I arrived is now on his way back down, currently £14,500. Obviously that greedy tactic didn't work for them

Thank you. Within an hour of the advert going live, the phone calls started. I did turn some people away, including after they had ridden (and offered full price) because they weren't the match I hoped for. But, only 1 day after advertising, a lovely family came, who appear competent and kind.
I had to wait (because of the BH weekend) but she was vetted, passed and had now gone. The phone never stopped ringing!
I hope that they have all the fun I hoped to have before mum had her fall (bringing on dementia) and the fallout messed with my head! She is a fabulous horse.
I am considering waiting a couple of months for the price bubble to burst before buying my next horse. I am wanting a family friend type, but who has a bit of go. I reckon after Xmas there will be a lot more on the market.

I'm looking for an unspoilt, unbacked youngster at the moment and I'm seeing a lot of ads for just backed babies (some not even 3 yet) that looked to have just had saddle and rider chucked on them and then immediately advertised for sale, presumably to try and take advantage of the current high prices.
Also lots 'backed and turned away....sold from field due to no rider'. No doubt some will be genuine but some will describe as backed and turned away simply because a backed pony commands a bigger price.
The current market is making me very cynical!
Anybody know what the NF foals are fetching at Beaulieu Road this year?
A good NF will do anything a Connie will do, and I refuse to believe the prices have got all that silly.
<----- he was 10 guineas (£10.50) not that long ago.
Wonder how much they've spent on food livery etc since then! ?
I enquired about a 4 year old native with just basic handling and they wanted £2500 which i decided was a bit too much. A week later I bought a smashing 4 year old registered Fell pony, also with basic handling, for just over a grand. Absolutely thrilled with him!
