Are horsey women 'tougher' than the average female?

I don't know about tougher, definitely gobbier.

The real I work horses for a living folk IMO are far more outspoken and don't care what they say than those who work in a company and have to be diplomatic and considered of others. Sometimes I think some horse women are so used to dealing with animals they forget how to deal with people and the complexities we bring.

As for toughness I guess anyone working with large animals on a daily basis has to get used to a certain crisis management in that if something happens you just get on with it without considering the damage to your manicure etc etc. Just being out in all weather elements brings a certain toughness I guess.

A horse-owning friend of mine *climbed Mont Blanc* with a broken pelvis. She thought she'd just pulled a muscle...

To be fair, when she got squashed against the indoor school wall at speed by her young horse and broke several ribs, a couple of fingers and chipped her collarbone she did admit it was rather painful and let herself be taken to the local A&E - but I'd have been screaming for morphine and an ambulance.

Im only 5ft 1 and small build, so heavy weights are difficult, and having scoliosis means that back ache is the norm, so i cant really cope with the heavy wheelbarrow or unloading a trailer load of hay. But out in all weathers, dealing with mud, sweat snot poo etc. Always get straight back on after a fall as soon as I can breath again, did is not so long ago after a dislocated knee and last week after landing straight on my cocyx. Rising trot is off the agenda for the moment until it heals a bit, but still doing everything else.

Often come n from the yard with blood dripping from somewhere and no idea how i hurt myself.....hold on, maybe thats Alzheimers instead.!

YEP! DEF!!:D:D:D:DLast week my horse barge into me(having his teeth done) something did pop as I felt it,I thought cracked rib?, since then not too much pain to begin with with mucking out,had yesterday off as Hubby doing horses for me and I did take advantage by doing all the household jobs, like washing down paintwork, getting rid of spiderwebs and lots of dust if you see what I mean and he cooked dinner(he was in bed by 7.30pm) as knackered.Soo today back to normal and having to take out 3 times what I normally do and my side is killing me and cooked dinner, bless him he did wash up, and I'm on here and he's in bed knackered and snoring:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I've just taken my yard friend to A & E as she had a whopping fall this mornings so i offered to take her.
She was having a row with the gp as he was waving the x-rays in her face telling her her arm is broken and needs a cast but she is insisting its just a sprained wrist!

ah what an odd bunch we are
