Hi _ i cant actually help you but yes there are good sellers out there. and sellers that worry about the home they may be selling to. I was a seller once - and it was probably more scary than buying and i hope i never have to sell again. I classically bought the wrong horse for me - he was a beautiful coloured IDXTB. i was a tad overhorsed! sounds a bit corny when you tell perspective buyers over the phone that the horse is perfect in every way but the rider wasnt but in my case it was true. He eventually was sold to a wonderful woman from England who has brought him on and now doing low level eventing. So - all i can advise you is keep looking on sites such as horsemart, freeads ect and go and view lots but most importantly take along someone with knowledge and experience that you trust. good luck.
To be honest Im more nervous about saying the wrong thing, Ive worked with lovely dressage horses, a confident hacker and even did my first dressage test acouple of months ago, but because ive never owned one Im worried Im not going to say the correct 'Horsey' thing to the owner. We are looking for a good livery at the moment with possible part DIY to help with the unknown!!
Around here you'd be looking at £4-6k for the spec given, yes there are the odd cheaper ones but I would question the conformation and long term soundness of them. If you are prepared to go smaller or older then you might find something in your budget.
For example at the bottom end of my budget and I bet he'll go in a moment, but meets your spec exactly!

Just out of interest then: is £2,500 way off the mark (even in the current market) for a 14.3-16.0hh who would be used for hacking and general flatwork. I'm not fussed on colour, age or sex, just want a happy healthy and non-dangerous horse (who isn't a total plod).
I'm in North Wales on the Shropshire/Cheshire border and not looking until late October onwards.
Just to let you know giddyupem2 I've just managed to see another one and although not right for me as he's too backward, the experience was fine. Staight forward easygoing people and not at all as daunting as I'd also been expecting. So good luck with your first viewings, my three have been tons easier than expected.
Those who suggest travelling........... yep think that's what I'll be doing.......I fancy a holiday in Yorkshire, never been!
giddyupem2,
I've pm'd you
