Are you a fair weather rider?

I'll ride in any weather if I want to ride, tho never in snow or ice!!

If it's super windy or whatever and it's supposed to be drier the next day I'll usually wait until the next day.

And sometimes, I freely admit I'm solar powered too :-D all depends on how desperate I am to get on board, though rain by itself I'll usually ride out in regardless!

i ride in anything and everything but then we have to as the pointers have to go out every day. However, for my own happy hacker who lives out, i wouldnt ride in the rain as it would be miserable for her to get soaked. If she was stabled it would be different as i could dry her and tuck her up in bed afterwards.
also, if you and horse wont enjoy it and dont have to do it, then dont! Horses are meant to be enjoyed, not be a chore!

Usually!

But, we tacked up all the horses today and THEN it pee'd down.

We all stuck our long riding coats on and off we went - people in car's but have thought we were crazy.

All weather riding adds a bit of variety I think ;)

I would hack out in wind but obviously depending on how my horse reacts to it, and Ive ridden in rain but only light rain not particularly keen on heavy rain.

Some of my best rides in the rain, less riff raff walking their kids dogs bikes etc, )

Riff raff! :D Don't get riff raff WALKING here, WALK?

This is Canada, we get in trucks to go to the end of our laneways to get our mail for heaven's sakes;)!

In this weather everyone is out playing hockey on frozen lakes or on sno-mobiles. Mad as flaming hatters.

My old boy never batted an eyelid in very windy conditions etc so we used to hack in all kinds of weather though I wouldn't fancy it in heavy rain as that means cleaning my tack when I got back :D

New boy much nicer to hack with the sun on his back so I'm a fair weather rider with him though have had lessons in pouring rain and he was fine.

Had a lesson yesterday and felt like I was going to be blown off Bob! Everytime we went into the wind he just released a HUGE medium trot.

Wind is OK, but not overly pleasant. I think I'd have cancelled if it was raining as well...

Played a polo chukka in a snow blizzard before - just as well the ball is bright orange!!!

No, been out on *****bag both today and yesterday in the high winds and also on the TB, both were out other week in the rain, got wet n soggy but it kinda felt good!

Given after teaching for 4 hours in the wind and rain I got my Mare out to lunge and was told I was bonkers to be going out in that rain, I'd say no I'm not.
Mare needed working and I want a horse that doesn't give a hoot if it's raining and knuckles down to work, which she did. We were both drenched afterwards, but it only takes a nice fleecey rug on her and a shower for me before we're both happy, dry and warm again.

Thank you for all your replies. Well I did ride him but in field, he was fairly good and we did transitions and getting to listen to me rather than him deciding what we do!

i love riding in the rain :D :D

i do however, draw the line at strong, heavy winds!!....

horse isnt impressed at riding in the rain but more often than not it means we have the paddock to ourselves :D lol!

I go out in anything, wind rain, gales....been out today in the topping down rain and wind but had the trusty waterproofs on!

Not from today of course but....

i will ride in any weather if i have to, my horse is absolutely fine in any weather as well, nothing seems to get him worked up or spooky! lol

i'm now at the stage of my life though that if i ride in the pouring rain and get a cold then i'm gonna be struggling to do the horses in the following days/weeks. they are my horses, i don't have to book a place to ride and i don't have to pay for the lesson or anything, i can ride when i want so now i just tend to stick to the better weathered days!
however my step daughter had lessons and had to ride regardless of the weather, i used to sit in the car or at home feeling quite smug! lmao
