I last clipped my boy on Feb 14th. Almost all off. Left legs & neck. He lives out 24/7. He’s got a good covering of summer coat now & is naked on dry days. I can’t decide when to leave him naked at night. He’s been in a 50g.
They’ve got plenty of shelter and will be moving onto fairly lush summer grazing in a couple of weeks. Weather is meant to be dry from Sunday onwards so was thinking of biting the bullet then! What u reckon?

I have one that had a high trace, she's out naked and has been for a few weeks but tbh her summer coat isn't through yet so she's still quite hairy on the unclipped bits. And a bit fat!
The clipped out one is wearing a 0g rug on nights that rain is forecast. On the nights that it's been dry I've left her out with nothing on.
They have no shelter and the field is exposed on top of a hill.

In your shoes I'd play it by ear but sounds like he'll be fine.

Mine has been since early March maybe late February. He doesn't feel the cold though and he doesn't like rugs.

My fully clipped one has been naked since the start of March. She’s been both in and out at night but currently in at night and out in the day. She’s a ‘hot’ horse though, well covered and doesn’t wear anything over 100g even in the depths of winter.

Oh gawd no!
The best summer coat I have though is on my new ex racer who wintered out til Jan unclipped then was in at night. He has a lovely summer coat and has done for ages. He wears a 50g out overnight and a sheet in in the day.
Little cob is in a full neck light weight over night out. He’s actually the cooler horse and would prefer a 100g still but he’s ballooned just recently!

Mine have been naked for about a month now - until two days ago, when I bunged their lightweights back on. Glad I did , as the rain has been pretty relentless

Both mine were clipped in feb and have a sheet on at night naked in day unless raining when sheets stay on they live out with not a lot of shelter

Mines a shivery silly mess at the first sign of rain or sub 5*C so not yet. The Shetland is but he was only clipped in April...! The ponies would be naked by now but new boy is a bit pathetic...!

Mine were both fully clipped, one has been naked for a while though she’s had a rug back on the last couple of days due it it being very wet and cold. My Tb has been naked over night on warmer nights but is currently in 100g

Everything not in work on the stud is out naked 24/7, most of those were never clipped but are in summer coat now. But to be fair they never wear rugs. The racehorse that has just come back for a holiday is fully clipped and in summer coat, won 4 weeks ago, and naked - but she is a natural fatty, in good grass and out with the babies.

My horse is still rugged most of the time, other than daytime when it’s warm and sunny. He is super fit with a coat like glass and consuming 5kg of hard feed a day. He’d come in tight & tucked up if he was lobbed out naked overnight

Ours have been naked overnight for about a month and on dry days since the middle of March - in lightweights on wet days and in 100g overnight in that time. They've only been out naked overnight for the last week (yard rules). Ironically the weather's been worse since they've been out than when they were in. They're both 23 and were fully clipped at the end of December.

I swapped mine over from out at day and in at night to in during the day and out at night when it got so hot over Easter and the flies were out in force. During the day they are unrugged and have hay. At night they are unrugged if it is not forecast to rain and have very light fill turnouts on if rain is forecast. They are all fully clipped out but have access to a big barn (which they only seem to use if it is very hot), good hedge shelter and plenty of grass.

I always thought I was quite tough rug wise 😂 evidently not.
At work they are on one yard in medium weights in over night and on the other in both medium top rugs and under rugs (which is an absolute overkill!)

Yep, clipped out one of mine about 3 weeks ago, she was already Irish clipped; only worn a lightweight rug on a few wet cold occasions, lived out right through the winter barring 4 nights. She is just happier that way. The other was un-clipped but still rugged until about a month ago.

My fully clipped hot cob has been out naked for over a month now. She lives out 24/7 and really dislikes rugs so I've packed them all away. Shes happy, warm enough and a good weight

Fully clipped and naked warmblood for over a month now. She's not a cold horse. She lives out 24/7 and is fat as a little elephant.

Just to add that even through the forecast is showing a chance of rain very early morning the temperatures are not going to dip below 7o so mine have just gone out unrugged and are happily scratching each other.

Yes they have been for a while .

Oh good, we’re up your neck of the woods and I’ve had mine out naked for ages whilst everyone else’s horses are rugged up to the eyeballs! I had felt a bit mean but mine hasn’t been sweating and theirs have

My mare is fully clipped and lives in an American barn. She’s currently wearing a fleece overnight but downgraded to a cotton sheet to keep her clean (she’s a grey) when we went through that really warm period. Hoping I can ditch the fleece rug soon though
