Is anyone competing at the Nationals intending to do the Arena Walks. It's our first time there and by the sounds of it it's going to be a bit of a bun fight as the walks are 6.40-7.30am for every class competing that day! I really don't want to blow the pony's brain (and the child's for that matter) before we even get started.

It seems to me the people competing today got a good deal as if they arrived last night they were able to do a walk then.

Also, another question, are competitors able to get on site to stabled horses before 6am? Pony will be stabled Friday night to compete Saturday, but we are staying off site. We are on fairly early Saturday morning, but if we do decide to do the arena walk I would like to have fed and plaitted etc before that, so if we can't get onsite until 6am I'll be cutting it fine - Bobby D likes to take his time over breakfast :p

We went last year (well, I was grooming for my sister) and it is probably a good idea to do the arena walk I'd say, its quite a daunting arena.

What class are you doing? Good luck, its a lovely experience. Ans the shopping is outstanding :D

Im afraid I dont have any answers, but I just wanted to wish you and your daughter lots of luck!!

Please post a report with photos when your back!!

Hi LF and Dora, thanks for the replies. I guess we will have to suck it and see!
L has qualified for the KBIS Prelim and the PP Novice restricted so we have a busy Saturday ahead of us. Thanks so much for the good luck wishes, realistically we are going for the experience and a lovely weekend with horsey shopping, but my OH says Goran Ivaniesovic?? Won Wimbledon on a wild card so anything is possible lol:)
Good luck to anyone else competing....

Also no answers, I'm there just for the day on Friday and not planning on doing an arena walk, am hoping my mare has enough life experience to cope ;)
Just wanted to say 'giraffe on acid' is an excellent phrase and one I might borrow in the future! !:D

I'm on pretty early Saturday morning too, Fig takes ages to eat and will need 2 warm ups. So depends on time, how he's feeling and whether the arena walk turns into the chaotic mess it apparently was last year!

The arena walks that I took part in last year were very calm and I found them to be worth while.

You can get in before 6am as long as you park in the general car park, you can then walk across. That is what I have to do as I'm also on very early.

Good luck!
