Unhappy bunny. :(

My NF gelding is prone to or has everything illness or ailement....has severe sweet itch, prone to random lameness, prone to laminitis.....AND prone to mud fever. I do, however, like him to live like a normal horse so even through the last 2 days of heavy rain has been turned out during the day.

Brought him in this evening to find mud fever in 3 feet :'( All my hard work failed

So, can anyone tell me what they use to prevent and/or treat it?

Also, would you suggest clipping legs so I can keep clean and dry properly, or keep legs on and not be able to dry?

Any help/advice appreciated!

Udder cream - about £5 a pot from your local feed merchant -always worked a treat as far as i'm concerned - and cheaper than a lot of other "specialist" stuff on the market

The muddy marvel range is brilliant and well worth paying for. It cleared up my boy's weeping and bleeding mud fever in a matter of days. The barrier cream can be used for prevention also.

Sudocream, the nappy rash stuff! It stays on for days on Conn! Dont know about clipping m'afraid but I hope your lad gets better soon x

Gentle hibi scrub once, leave to dry then SMOTHER in sudo and leave. My boys cleared up within about three days.
I also feed micronized linseed to help his skin quality.
