Arghhhhh need a kick please....

Been there and the t-shirt is worn out!
You need to break it down into bite size pieces, remembering at each point that you don't 'have' to do this. If you don't, you're lucky enough to still have a roof over your head and food on your table.
Get up early as planned and get ready to go. Plait up, load up lorry and off you go. When you get there, saddle up and start warming up. If something doesn't feel right if you are absolutely crippled with nerves, then end on a good note and go home. You've lost nothing other than your entry fee and there are plenty more for you to try again. However if all feels good, go and do your dressage. YAY!! You survived and pony was a star! Oh no, now we've got to get over some poles. Yikes!! Warm up, pop over warm up fence etc. If it's going horribly wrong (which it won't) then load up and go home. Nice glass of wine in the garden ? However, it's probably all going perfectly well so have a bash at the SJ. If you're not happy part way round, retire and go home. Glass of wine in the garden? I suspect it will all go beautifully though, and hey, you got round !!! Bl'dy brilliant !!!!!! Same approach with the xc. There's no law saying you HAVE to do it, so go and see how far you get. Enjoy your pony and the sunshine and afterwards, a nice glass of wine in the garden :-)

Love this - now I want wine (in the garden) - is it too early?!

Thanks all. Have bought some of those pimms cans mixers- I used to drink one before xc- so feel a bit better about life now!!!!

Going to walk the course today but unless minor melt down follows (again) I will plait pony up and go... eeeeeek

Nice wee horse, looks like a bit of a "pocket rocket" bet he's great fun!

He is super fun, a far cry from the nappy backwards horse I had last year (likely lameness related). He’s still quite stallion like and it gives him a little bit of an edge!

I would definitely say go. I suspect even if you put it off and had more lessons you will still feel the same as you have said it is almost as much the fact it is not you old boy.

Following this weekend i suspect it will do one of two things, either you will find a little of what you once enjoyed even if its among a bundle of nerves and that will give you the kick you want to keep going or you wont get that buzz in which case as someone else put it you might be better off finding him a fab little rider to compete and get your buzz from viewing at the sidelines after putting the work in yourself.

I wish you good luck however it turns out, i hope you don't get too wound up doing the course walk and try to enjoy the moments you can.

Ok I will fess now - I’m NOT goIng tomorrow as I’m flipping knackered after attending a training course today for work! So
I have done a late entry for a local eventer challenge :) some SJ and some XC - does Jensen mind about missing dressage? Probably not! Am I annoyed at losing a £60 entry fee? Hell yes :p :D

Thanks all. Pony plaited and looking particularly wild. I’ve had about five cigarettes already and not even leaving for another few hours! Fingers crossed...

How was it Michen?

Ahhh I am so proud of him. Best dressage in section, first after showjumping and just dropped to fifth place for some time penalties xc- it was a little firmer than I would have liked so we went steady. I just wanted to survive let alone get a frilly but he was just fantastic. Will maybe have a think about a full report later but photo for now! Thank you for checking in xx

Ah fantastic Michen, I'm so pleased for you - we definitely need a full report.

So now it's official... You have a new eventing partner in crime :o
