Been there and the t-shirt is worn out!
You need to break it down into bite size pieces, remembering at each point that you don't 'have' to do this. If you don't, you're lucky enough to still have a roof over your head and food on your table.
Get up early as planned and get ready to go. Plait up, load up lorry and off you go. When you get there, saddle up and start warming up. If something doesn't feel right if you are absolutely crippled with nerves, then end on a good note and go home. You've lost nothing other than your entry fee and there are plenty more for you to try again. However if all feels good, go and do your dressage. YAY!! You survived and pony was a star! Oh no, now we've got to get over some poles. Yikes!! Warm up, pop over warm up fence etc. If it's going horribly wrong (which it won't) then load up and go home. Nice glass of wine in the garden ? However, it's probably all going perfectly well so have a bash at the SJ. If you're not happy part way round, retire and go home. Glass of wine in the garden? I suspect it will all go beautifully though, and hey, you got round !!! Bl'dy brilliant !!!!!! Same approach with the xc. There's no law saying you HAVE to do it, so go and see how far you get. Enjoy your pony and the sunshine and afterwards, a nice glass of wine in the garden
