Has anyone got a pair? Link below.
I have brown tack and trying to decide on a decent, hard wearing pair of long riding boots (brown seem to have less choice than black!) and really love the look of these boots, also love the idea they are 'insulated' for winter.

I ride only 3 times a week so they won't take a massive beating but over the years I feel I've wasted so much money on cheaper alternatives - I could never justify spending £300 odd when I only ride 3 times a week and don't compete but figure the amount I've spent on cheap pairs over the years, replacing at least once a year, I may as well have got a decent pair to start with!

If not, any similar recommendations welcome!

Thanks :)

I've had bromonts since they came out, my current pair are brown and rather ancient and quite tatty now - they were second hand when I bought them. But still comfortable and waterproof. I haven't had any of the newest ones as I haven't worn these out yet! I really think they are worth the money as they are IME very long lasting :o I only wear mine for riding and occasionally pottering about, never mucking out as I think that will ruin any boots.

Perfect, thank you! I've known people to live in their Ariat riding boots (riding and yard pottering/mucking out etc) so haven't lasted long but like you, think that riding boots are made for riding and not the dirty work! I have a pair of Dublin River Boots which are nearly two years old, still waterproof and warm and I wear those for all stable tasks - love them :)

I only wear mine when off out in box, but even so that's 2 or 3 times a week through summer and at least weekly in winter, brought in Nov 2010 and still looking good :)
I DO clean them weekly tho. Never used on the yard, have occasionally driven box back in them.

At home it's ariat jodh boots and gaiters, with the Grassmeres thorough the winter :)

I have a brown pair, similar to you I prefer over black. They're probably 4/5 years old now and if I cleaned them up properly rather than a quick wipe I reckon they'd look new.

Took no wearing in & were comfy from day one too. I'm not sure if mine are the insulated ones but they're SO warm - might be worth asking others that can remember what they have as if mine are the non-insulated ones I certainly wouldn't want the insulated, and I think you can pick up the non-insulated cheaper.

Love Bromonts, but buy the non insulated now and the insulated in spring. Ive had 3 pairs (one a zip went on) but i have the everyday pair (2 years old) that i dont look after at all and are still fine and my doing anything posh pair (which look like new). Never paid more than £170 for the non.

I've got them and use them to do everything in (including climbing on the muck heap) and rarely clean them (such a slut :(). I can't remember when I bought them but it was a good few years ago and they are still going strong and polish up nicely if the situation requires. The only issue with them is that the poppers at the top of the zips are a bit stiff now.

Ariat boots are worth every penny. I have *ahem* a few pairs..... and they are all fab. My terrain short boots are quite possibly the comfiest footwear I own. Bromonts are the only long boots that are actually long enough for me and they are lovely to ride in, mine are about 3 or 4 years old now but still look virtually like new when clean but I only wear them for competitions, hunting and lessons.

Thank you all so much! The responses have been so helpful and exactly what I wanted to hear although I'm sure my bank balance would prefer everyone to say they are awful so I don't have to spend the money haha!
I would definitely try on rather than buy online, I'm certain Robinsons and Eileen Douglas that are fairly close to me both stock them so I can make sure I get the right length/width. Currently riding in short boots and chaps so couldn't even really take a guess on size!
Good point on the insulated/non insulated, if the non insulated are warm anyway I'd rather save some pennies and get those. Hopefully tackshop staff can advise!

I have the insulated and non insulated (older non pro style). Love both, but the insulated are definitely warmer and best in winter - I get cold in the others.
Word of warning - mine took a couple of weeks to drop - back of knee took the brunt of breaking in. However, now like slippers.
I had intended to use only for riding, but I'm bad (lazy) so they get used for skipping out etc too! Mine clean up beautifully for shows.
Sorry to your bank account...

It's definitely worth trying Ariat boots on; I have five pairs and they are all different sizes!

Also I wear my insulated Bromonts in the summer and they're not uncomfortably hot however they're not particularly warm in winter either.

I love my old pair of Ariat insulated Bromonts, I got them as soon as they came out originally, in fact I got them from USA as they weren't out here at that point! I loved them, used them only for events (but often muddy XC etc.) and they never once leaked and always kept my feet warm yet cool enough for summer (well up here in NE Scotland anyway). I literally cried when they eventually died, the zips gave up eventually and although I had the elastic panels and zips professionally replaced they just weren't the same. I bought the Volant's next and although love the design of them I do regret my decision now :( They're not nearly as comfy or waterproof. When I can afford Bromonts, I'll be getting them again.
