I shall keep this short for once!
But must say lovely to see Jiffy and Haybales, OH and finally meet Vicki1978 too.

Course was super dooper and I cannot wait to return next year.

Dressage, he was a bit lively but settled, did a lovely test, only for rider to go wrong.... so scored 35.7
Show jumping was small but bright, he went completely green on me after being so consistant this week in training, even YO was suprised... but thats young horses for you. He did an okay round in bits but he chipped in twice and twice lowered a pole.
Hey ho, on to xc, i was sure to go direct everywhere, and try not going xc with a martingale for the first time.
He went brilliantly over fences 1-9 he was flying, so bold even over the scary 4 poster bed which was like a big table under a hut. He even flew the scary wall fences that ppl seem to have problems with.
Fence 10 was after a long run up a hill, think he was getting a little tired, even so he was pulling me into it. Fence 10 was a train engine basically you jumped the back of it which was a wideish table. There was no ground line and he chipped in being a little green and got very close and clambered over. Fence 11 was a double of palisades which had a drop and different ways of jumping it. He again chipped in and got too close. Fence 12 was a big bank 3 strides over a big log this he jumped really well.
Cantering to the corner, i was in two minds because i knew he had scared himself a little over the box type fences. Sure enough coming into it head in the air and he sailed straight past - *NOTE* never going xc without martingale again!!
Circled and popped the two alternatives - the water was quite spooky over a big hanging carving of wood into water and out over another big box fence but this time he hit it spot on and flew.
The rest of the course he was motoring again and really flew the very wide table 3 from home. Slight scary moment went stumbling after the drop log when rider had to sit tight but finished well.
He looked very tired back at the lorry, but i was very pleased with him.

So we have some homework to be getting on with now.

A little disappointed with the run out, but its his first EVER faulter at a fence, so i cant complain.

Thanks for reading

Ahh not a bad day at all!!

Well done

Sounds like you had an OK day, when Jiffy said you had not done too well I was thinking you might have fallen or something
shocked.gif
It seemed a really nice course, I would probably have wimped out at the corner and would have taken the longer route I think but other than that seemed OK - lots were clouting fence 10 weren't they?

Must come up and say Hi next time, I'm sure I must have seen you SJ but can't remember them announcing your name!

Well done, Snoopy is obviously still a baby so he seems to be doing v well
smile.gif

Bugger about the dressage and run out - but like you said, he is a baby so you have to forgive some blips and it is still trial and error stage! Well done, he looks super in the pics.

As others and yourself have said he is still young, rather him have silly run outs now than later in his career. Interesting how sometimes they can just go so green on you.

Sounds like there were plenty of positives to take away with you and his dressage is being consistent. Where next?

Looks like you had a good day considering he was a baby. I must have seen your round without realsing it was you if you see what I mean as my instructer was no.280, so just before you, she was on teh cloured that bolted in the XC warm up!

Thank guys.
He is like a little power packed athlete now, so muscular, but also a tiny bit too chunky lol mind you so am i
smirk.gif

I saw 280, Jen were you wearing a blue shirt with GB team on? i saw you whilst i was warming up in the dressage.

Mrs T, he was like he was at Great Tew, great the first half, like the horse im used to, then green over 3-4 fences then bold as brass again.
Im gutted with the sjing as i was sure he was getting so much better. The plan was to go sjing on tuesday but im trying to get into the intro next weekend to give him a boost before the Pavo at Mattingley.
Vx

Yep, I was in a blue t-shirt with the yard logo on it, I was sat near the entrance for the dressage warm up, being sat on by a black dog!

Saf that will be great, YO and Mum are planning to come, but be great to have you there as well, thank you.
How did Tweseldown and Upton go?

Take it you are trying to get into Aston? If you can manage it sounds like a good plan.

Well i thought i would at least try. Ive helped for years at this event, amoungst other things..... so it wouldnt hurt before his pavo run the following friday.

If i can do DBD that would be better, cos i can do early morning sunday, zip pony home and be back again

to help.

Sounds like a very good day to me, with a minor blip!! I do however know how these blips can make you feel! (ie p!ssed off) but in a weeks time you'll see it for what it is, a silly bip on his amazing record.

Yeah i guess.
I cant be too upset with him. I guess im more upset with the SJing has hes been fabulous at home, really being an out and out jumper jumping some real difficult lines and distances and making it feel like childs play.
I really do think they should put ground lines infront of these big box fences tho - well at Intro/PN level. The amount of horses who hit fence 10!

Are you all set for tomorrow?

Yeah, I have the same trouble with Ernie and the dressage at home.. i can get some really nice work out of him at home, but there's no use thinking in the same way at an event, as i'm riding a totally different horse!! one that can't even strike off on the correct leg half the time haha..

Orla is so lazy, she'd take one look at the carrot, and say "what's the point in running after that, when there's some nice looking grass on the floor right here infront of me"

Fab result honey, baby mistakes are allowed occasionally, and he has been so fab with lack of mistakes so far, I think things will just go better and better. Get into Aston, do you think theyll let you give us a lead!?
