So does mine! It is to stabilise the back of the saddle on a more flat backed cob, and is very common! Before I was always a 1st and 3rd girl!!!

As above, I have also been advised by a Master Saddler to use straps 2 & 3 to stop my saddle moving on my cob.

Why not saddle before bridle? I always do this while my mare chews away at her haynet so I can then tighten the girth slowly without her complaining.
Is it a safety thing?
