It's that time again :D

What's everyone up to?

This weekend marks the start of a very busy spell for Kira.. she's not doing a lot of work at home because we keep having lorry-jollys and I need to keep her fresh ;)

so half-step bootcamp continued today with a trip out for a lesson, usual trainer is away so we had a different set of eyes on us today and I think Kira will be glad to see Adam next time, as she got worked MUCH harder than usual today :D Got a useful little nugget thanks to the different perspective and she's been well and truly rumbled, no more hanging on the rein or leaning on my inside leg, thanks very much! :p

Quick trip out on Sat to a long arena to try and finalise our new AM floorplan
Sunday is riding club dressage to music areas...nothing like having a tight deadline to focus the mind is there...

Monday will probably be lorry maintenance and admin

Another lesson on Wednesday, yikes! It's a bit full on going every week but I am starting to see how really experienced riders can train horses on so fast- I do lots of homework in between our lessons but having that kind of top level input weekly has really nudged a few things along quite significantly.

Have fun everyone :)

That sounds awesome Milliepops. Nothing like pony boot camp!

Me and the sick note clydesdale are going to a heavy horse show on Sunday and entering everything. Starting with the gelding in hand class, then the any breed veterans and a random 13 year old girl I've met once is borrowing him for the young handlers - she was handling for a local shire breeder who passed away recently and his horses aren't able to compete until after probate.
After lunch, we're doing a long reining challenge class and the ridden walk / trot, and possibly having a crack at harness turnout if I can sort the final pieces of gear. Then we're off to parade in the main ring as part of the attractions as it's a county fair and game show.

I am so so excited.

And Monday is fun ride at my riding school, 9 miles mostly off road with loads and loads of jumps. I've booked the little 14 hand hunting pony and we're going out with two TBs so expecting a hasty round!

Topaz is going to be cleaned (shock) and preened ready for our second attempt at advanced on Sunday (A105 :eek3:)...

I will hopefully complete my move out of my current house and Skylla is being smug that she is on the back burner this weekend and the next...

Very jealous of your weekly lessons, I can never find the time at the moment to fit everything in, once I'm done moving boxes to various houses I am going to get myself organised for more structured pony learning!

Millie’s off out on Sunday to have a go at an Intro. She’s a nervous traveller so the plan really is to have a stress-free trip for her.

We’ve been having far too much stubble-fun in recent weeks so she’s barely been in the school, so I popped her in there last night to check that she could remember how to ride a circle haha. Her enthusiasm wanes considerably in the school, so I’m curious as to whether I get a bit more from her at a new venue. Could be interesting!

staying in a tent half an hour away from my nice, warm, dry house because I like playing ponies and I'm a good sort of mate ;)

Must find out hot water bottle :D

I can finally post in here - taking the cob to her first ever ridden show and second ever trip off the yard...! Just doing an intro test, i'm not worried about the actually test (other than completely forgetting it....) but a bit worried about getting her there and whether she will go into the ring. She's got a habit of napping and rearing which we've been working on. Guess we wont know until we try.

Taking her on her own so hopefully she doesnt get too attached to anything and it all goes smoothly! I've hired the arena tonight so will see how that goes!

Wheeee exciting AH :D

It's a struggle to fit everything in at the moment esp as trying not to overcook Kira while she's got so much on, but it's lots of fun. And after all the stop-start with Millie I'm a firm believer in cracking on while you have 4 legs working on each horse :wink3:

Travel day for us tomorrow - it’s a 180-odd mile drive up to The Cabin and we’ll have to stop somewhere otherwise I’ll go over my driving time.

Had two good lessons earlier this week so hoping I remember everything on show day. :)

After a dressage test clinic on Monday night where the judge noticed that he wasn't always fully stepping through on his right hind on turns I have cancelled my Saturday lesson and booked the physio to come and see both of us. My left hip/glute is in almost constant pain/spasm so I don't know which of us is struggling really. I shall look forward to going on the massage table in the stable and hope no one is around...
Sunday morning the kids have a riding lesson at 8.20 am so it'll be an early start and Monday I want to take the big lad out on a nice long hack with a friend.

I am working in St Andrews (again)! The grant budget wouldn't stretch to actual accommodation so I'm 'camping' in the van but the site has WiFi and electricity so it's not real camping ;).

V jealous of everyone having pony fun and good luck to all competing!

That sounds hectic MP !

Busy one for us , started today with a trip the Futurity with Frank. Super proud of him , he started by making a bit of an entrance by practically falling off the lorry . We’ve done loads of practice at home , but he was just a bit WTF , when he saw that we where somewhere else ( he’s a yearling so forgiven) once off he was a star , behaved beautifully for the vet and did everything he could for the evaluation. He came away with a first premium. So chuffed with that. Back on the lorry he relaxed and had a few minutes to realise it wasn’t that bad .
Saturday off to llanymynech , and then my daughter is doing a hunter trials on Monday . Exciting stuff .

Frank is now fast asleep . Good luck everyone

Blair, Blair and more Blair! (watching, not competing!!)

Can't wait. I love going and soaking up all the horseyness. Going tomorrow with a group of girls from the yard, and then going again on Sunday with hubby and kids, and watching a friend do her showing thing. I'd go all 4 days if it was up to me...

Oh, and perpetually changing bandages of the Calamity horse on box rest. Grump grump!

Have a nice weekend everyone! xx

I am heading to Blair tomorrow! So if you are around in the afternoon (probs about 2-2.30pm) The Wee Coloured Job will be in the NPS Scotland In-Hand Small Breeds Final! He won it last year and whilst it would be nice to reclaim our title I will be happy with a top 6 finish! The beast is as clean as he is going to get tonight but I will have plenty of time to get any dodgy bits sorted in the morning as we aren't leaving til about 10.30am.

Keysoe horse trials for Boggle and I... going to be somewhat tough as I arrive back from holiday the evening before and feel like I need a holiday from the holiday!

I'll definitely look out for you and the wee coloured job! Good luck, I'll be cheering from the side.

My friend won her class in the show ring today and came home with riding horse champion too! I'm soooo pleased for her - her horse is gorgeous (I've ridden it - badly) and my friend is such a great rider. Fingers crossed for more rosettes tomorrow!!

Sounds like some brilliant outings are planned. Back this weekend from holiday but think i only get chance to ride one day. Grump grump also. But making the most of it and off to gaddesdon ride with friends. Love a nice ride out in company and hopefully good ground will mean some canters and a bit of jumping.

I’m currently at AM Dressage for two days of lessons - MP I saw your name on the calendar, I missed you by a couple of hours! Indio hates our lessons with Justine, she makes him go straight and then bend properly :P. We have another early tomorrow then I’m home to sort lots of house stuff, having moved into my own place two weeks ago.

Family over for bbq on Sunday, then Hartpury for Petplan Areas on Monday. Hopefully we can do a respectable Ele test, then I fully expect to come last in the Medium! Like MP I’m all for giving it a go when I can though, with Indio’s dodgy front fetlocks I’m not sure how many years we’ll have.

Have fun everyone!

Oh damn! AMD is like that, I know so many people who go there but we're all like ships passing in the night :D I'm sure Kira worked about 50 times harder with J than with Adam, hehe. She was sweaty all over including the front of her face which is pretty unusual for her :D

Have fun at Hartpury, you on your own or got people going with you?

7.50 flight from H'row tomorrow for a horse shopping day trip!
Saturday morning- work
Saturday PM-Monday Fenland Country show scurrying :)

My first ever post here...
On Saturday a Walk and trot test at my instructor’s place. First dressage test in nearly 20 years! I hate competing but must give new horse some experience. Fingers crossed.
Reclaim my brain on Sunday.
Fun ride on Monday with a best friend.
Good luck to all those competing and everyone else have a great weekend.

Good luck everyone, especially those who are going out for the first time.

I have a hens party Saturday which I am following up with a dressage and show jumping day on Sunday... with both horses. It's going to be a really big, exhausting weekend. I was feeling WAY to nervous about it earlier in the week but thankfully the nerves have settled.

We are off to attempt our first BE tomorrow at Llanymynech.. grateful for the recent rain but hope it doesn't get too carried away with itself! Talking about the weather of course in a failed attempt to hide my nerves!

Good luck to everyone else competing and hear is to a fun BH weekend!

Had a very nappy coblet last night with only one rear although it was a big one... not sure whether to attempt show or not. I'm fairly sure that getting her to leave the arena and enter the actually ring is going to result in acrobatics  She hasn't reared in months in an arena but was very difficult yesterday.

We managed to ride the test twice after her strop but i did have to get off and lunge before managing that. Not sure on best option. I'm not on until 11 so I could go down really early and try and calm her down/tire her out  horses.....

edit to ad she's not mine otherwise she'd have had much more experience of the yard/hacking! Unfortunately its either £100 transport costs plus clinic prices or hack to this one yard near by that holds competitions but thats £22 a time to hire. Ads up quickly for owner/me. Looking forward to being able to afford my own again!

We are doing our second ever BD competition and my first ever trip completely solo - not even my OH to help. That's tomorrow, then full bath and beauty treatment for madam on Sunday ready for our yard's annual show on Monday. We don't do serious showing, but we'll do 3 classes just cos it's there. Then off on holiday next weekend - I need a rest!

Ooo, lots of fun weekends planned - enjoy everyone.

Congrats on the first premium Asha!

Tomorrow I will mainly be being lazy, enjoying the first day away from work in 2.5 weeks, with a school hire thrown in somewhere. On Sunday I am half considering taking one of the critters to a local showing show for my annual humiliation followed by ice cream :D

So I might have made a cheeky 4 legged investment— whoops!

You can't just post that and then leave out the details! :p

I had some good news today - I got a side job that I applied for months ago which will see my income double :). It's probably good that I'm broken at the moment or I'd be horse shopping :D.

Well that's a kick in the teeth. Heavy horse show cancelled due to rain. May be rebooked but can't promise, and because I'm at the mercy of a friend with a lorry, I probably won't be able to make it anyway.

We missed so many shows due to his self harm and my lack of transport that I'm absolutely gutted at losing this one.

Oh no :( what a shame. I had no transport until 3 years ago, I know how difficult it can be getting out and about when you are dependent on other people :(

I feel a bit less anxious now we are back from arena hire and the floorplan is sorted. PHEW. Just in the nick of time. I hate having to change things around, me and my great ideas  but I think it might actually work out OK. Not long to wait now... Time for a cuppa and put my feet up for a bit I think, Salty was doing wheelies round the field this morning so will need all my strength to ride her later :biggrin3:
