Right gang, what are we up to?

thought someone else might have kicked it off again this week :p family birthday today so I've been juggling work/cake baking/ riding etc this afternoon :D FWIW elderflower & lemon cake a la royal wedding is a hit, so I'm told :wink3:

It's regionals for Kira this weekend at Mount Ballan, M75 on Sat and then back on Sunday for AM98.

Salty will be having a quiet one, hopefully fit in a bit of homework for her in between trips to the show.

Happy pic of them eating the same weed to start the thread off :p it's unlike Kira to share, she must actually like the orange one :)

have fun everyone

Im stewarding again this weekend so the ponies get another week of being manky in the field! I'm going just over 3 hours up to the north of Scotland to steward ... The things we do for the love of our sport!

If everyone put back one or two days back into the sports they compete in every year competitions wouldn't struggle so much to run!

Am off to my first ever Area Festival on Sunday. Am getting very excited!
34 people in the class, it's on for about 5hrs, so have decided to make a day of it and booked a day stable so me and groom can watch the rest of the class and soak up the atmosphere.

Pony Club show on Saturday for my 7yo, his first competition in ages, and I've entered Fionn and I into an unaff ODE on Sunday. My first in at least ten years 😲😲😲

Good luck everyone x

Fiona

We’ve got stubble!

So any schooling plans may have gone out of the window!
Will do some practice loading though as Millie has her first dressage a week on Sunday.

Divas out of action with an inflamed tendon sheath. Gutted that she’s missing the stubble fun.

I think we will be swimming. Pretty sure the horses have grown flippers and now have the ability to breathe under water. I'm not complaining!

We are going to have to float out to ride this weekend I think, too wet to ride at home. Tonight we have the farrier, then tomorrow I'm going to ride at a local club. Then Sunday I am watching a friend compete before going riding with another friend. Hopefully we stay dry!

Good luck Fiona, enjoy your ODE!
MP, I love hearing about Kira, you guys are so awesome.
Scats that looks like so much fun! I hope Diva is ok.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

I’m finally getting out to a Dressage comp after 4 months off work due to lameness starting in December.
It’s still not quite plain sailing as 2 weeks ago my girl started protesting about her dressage saddle fit, so we’ll be doing our dressage tests in an orange jump saddle with mismatched black stirrup leathers.

Sounds like some fun plans for this weekend. Good luck to those competing.

AE you seem to have our rain! And have fun in the stubble scats. Our fields have not been done yet.

Have been practicing sj at home, so obv I’ve decided to do a dressage comp this weekend hah. Not done that for months and we were a bit green even then but hoping we can work on some of the stuff we’ve been practising at home and not melt in the heat!

im doing a late night hack with a friend tonight to beat the heat! off to Gatcombe festival of eventing tomorrow, need to buy a new xc hat and body proctector. ouch! then off for an early xc schooling session on sunday at lyneham heath. :)

I put my back out moving a new washing machine on my "rest" weekend last weekend, which means I'm missing out on friends cowboy camp this weekend and Daisy is enjoying pigging out in the field. I'm calling it a sensible mid season break ;) In happy news, after failing to get a single BD point in 15 years of trying, we've got 1.5 AQHA points :)

We're off games currently. Nursing a splint that B developed 2 weeks ago after busting through a fence with his mates. He either bashed it or got kicked... either way, it's shrunk a bit and gone hard. Hard to tell if there's any heat left as everything is hot in general! Just playing waiting game now.

My friend has offered some riding on her horse next week, which will be nice.

So have fun, whatever you're doing, everyone! Good luck to all competing :)

Good luck to everyone competing, have fun those just playing at home and good vibes to those currently nursing injuries. I agree on the stewarding EKW, last weekend mum and I were secretaries/announcers at works annual summer show. I couldn't work it as normal due to the leg.

Speaking of which, I was allowed to walk without crutches for the first time yesterday! The first time since late May... As celebration mum and I headed to the R&R sale and had some serious retail therapy. Mum is going to enjoy looking the part in her smart new Pikeur jacket as she watches me across collecting rings this winter :D Chilli got a new saddle pad and some boots too. She also got ridden yesterday (okay, not the weekend technically but sticking it in the same post rather than making a new one) and she doesn't look too hideous considering she's been in barely any work whatsoever since I broke my leg.

And this morning was very exciting... Mum and I took delivery of our first ever transport! We've had to rely on lifts and favours for so many years so this is just so liberating. Went for the en vogue slate grey in the end. We can't use it till I'm riding again but I can stare at it lovingly as it sits there all locked up... Name suggestions welcome!!

Fab news and chilli looks great. Congrats on the new trailer, you just need to recover well and quickly so you can get to use it soon!

I'm off to Eland Lodge camp with my lovely new girl. I've been out of action for the past few weeks due to a back injury so I'm hoping that it holds up.

I'm more than a little sad that my wonderful YO (who found my new girl for me) and one of our other liveries won't be there due to human and horse injuries but I'm going to try and strap on my brave pants and do them proud after all the work they have put into getting me back riding.

Thank you fiona and bernster. It's so exciting! Can't rush the recovery though. I really did a number on the ligament so need to be really sure it's on the mend before I ride again.

Wimbles, I'm sure you'll do them more than proud!

I’m still super chuffed with my little mare and me for going out to only our second test together last night all on our own. I’m quite pathetic and tend to allow my fears get the better of me without support. She looked after me so well we feel ready to take on the excitement of jumping - she’s a dressage princes, i’m a confidence hunting rider who’s done very little jumping in the last 5 years. We have two jump sets, we’ll start on the floor and see if we can manage the lowest setting😛! Jump lessons are on order!

After a break from riding with just minor horse dabbling when I got the chance, I have my first official riding lesson for over 5 years on Sunday 😁 very excited to be back!

Good luck with the dressage MP, sounds exciting !

The new wheels look fabulous Rosie, something for you to look forward to. I do like ifor williams, and the colour is lovely

Wimbles - will you post about the camp? Id like to give the eland lodge camps a go, but have never been so would be really interested to hear how you get on / what facilities / instructors are like etc

Not much for us over the weekend but I have got a 2 day dressage clinic mon / Tues which I'm very excited about

We are having 2 lessons per day, one lunging / in hand and one ridden. The boy is going very well at the min so hoping for tips to improve what we are currently working on and some help with what to try next

Good luck and have fun all! New wheels look very posh RO, will you be going matchy with the tow vehicle too? ;)

I had some rubbish news about my back today - its been decided that I'm too young to have the disc removed and vertebra fused (long term results for this are poor) so instead they're going to do nothing. I'm going to contact PALS on Monday as I suspect this is just a way of cutting costs / getting me off the waiting list and making their stats look better. If they won't reconsider I'm going to be cracking on with M in the hope that it either gets better or gets worse so they have to do something!

With that in mind I'll be going for a hack and then giving her a bath ;).

Im picking up the new TB! Not as exciting as it could be since she is going to be basically turned away until after my new human addition arrives in January, but since Ive never met her yet it will be fun!!

Asha, they definitely are fab. I left final colour choice to mum as I was stuck between the glossy blue they do and the graphite. We ende, d up with the graphite as you don't see many of them around here.

DF, if we can possibly go matchy with the towing vehicle we will be doing!! I really hope you get some good news about your back x

Yipee. A miserable few weeks here chez Rara but today put Cheeri in with his potential driving partner Dexter for the first time in the carriage. Dex is a good pairs pony but a green 5YO none the less, and Cheeri is still early days in his multiples career as I've really struggled to get volunteers happy to tie a young stallion to a green gelding! They don't go out together as the gelding is a bit full on for Cheeri unless there's a herd to diffuse the situ so quite an ask for both of them to just get on with it- which they did :D Out into the fields tomorrow I think :)

Great pics Rara! they look so smart together :)

Decidedly average performance in the ring today for Kira, as we followed a break and a withdrawal the judge at C beeped us in to start a bit sooner than I could have done with to get her into the happy-zone so she was a bit tight and backward.
But I'm pretty chuffed with her all the same, she was a star in the warm up, having had some hair raising times in our last few outings after she got run into at Summerhouse, and not being able to really warm her up. So pleased that she's finding her brave pants again :) Plus she really tried hard despite a few little worries in the arena, that's all you can ask.

I really felt for someone that followed a few horses after me, half way through her test and the spectators watching the test finishing in the next door arena erupted in really loud applause. Her test was completely ruined as her horse got very worried. What a shame. I'm so pleased that didn't happen to Kira, she's only just got over being afraid of the bunting they had up for the welsh champs! :o :eek3:

Realised after we got home that it's the last medium test she will do. Shame it was a bit of a meh performance but onwards & upwards now :) Will see if I can get her a bit more fired up tomorrow for the AM, lord knows we will need a bit more oomph to get through THAT test!

Obligatory photo

Brill photos Rara, I'm impressed that you've got a matching pair :).
Great report MP, and (as always) I love the photo <3. She's got such a kind face.

DF, if we can possibly go matchy with the towing vehicle we will be doing!!

Someone round here has the glossy red Ifor with a matching gloss red Navara and it looks very smart! Matchy all the way ;).

I'm here too! *waves* I have a rather distinctive lorry and little black pony if you want to say hi :)
