I'll explain what I mean!
I avoid calling/buying any pet with a name beginning with S as they all seem to die before their time.
For example, my first pony was called Smokey. He got out of his field and was hit by a drunk driver and had to be PTS. :(
Our first dog when I got married was called Sandy and had to be PTS at 11 years due to a tumour on her spine.
We have also had a rabbit called Shadow, a guinea pig called Snoopy, 2 goldfish called Spot and Stripe who all died before they should and I believe a hamster as well but can't remember its name. Think it did begin with an S though.

I don't like changing names if they already have names and refuse to name beginning with an S. Any pet that doesn't have a name beginning with S goes on to live a long and happy life. (For those of you who are thinking I should be reported for cruelty to animals):p
Was at one point wondering if I was next as my name begins with S.

ok, dont necessarily avoid letters of alphabets but do avoid buying friends named items for their pets as presents as have done 4 times in the past and each time something has happened before I give the present.

1 horse - suddenly taken back off permanent loan after friend had for 3 years and sorted out all problems.

1 horse - got colic and died.

2 dog - pts unexpectedly

so I decided not to buy personalised items anymore unless it's for any annoying people :p

none of my horses like B's, but they do all love the 'c'.
They are all quite happy being called 'G-G's.
They become quite relaxed with 'P's, have n idea how to behave in a 'Q'.
They ignore 'Y's but really really love a big 'T'...
