Had the day off work today, went down to turn out this am to be greeted by a full carpark and lots of upset people.

They only took the really decent saddles, forced over 30 tack room doors, several very new Fylde Showing saddles.

Poor horse I turn out from this barn would'nt come out of her stable, scared of the police tape!

I have moaned recently about being right down on the muddy bottom yard - well, thank god I stayed there - the thieves never even went down there so our 10 tackrooms were untouched.

Got home about 9.30 to find our village had a power cut

Had loads to do, could'nt do anything! No internet, heating, hot water - so back to the yard and went and camped out in the horsebox! Least I had a tv and gas fire! Mum took pity and took me for lunch, then back to the yard to ride and teaching a couple of the kids there.

Got back and some of the upset people had started having a few beers this morning, next thing some one has been injured, not sure of the details, but horse had reared and lunged at its owner in the stable, knocked her over and stood on her face

She refused to go to hospital, I did'nt interfere, will have to hope there is no serious damage!

Blinking heck what a rubbish day you've had. Hope that you've now got some hot water and electric......actually you must have or you would'nt be online

They must have been pleased with their haul! The baarstewards!

They will be back in a couple of months time when they think all the tack will have been replaced.

So awful because the insurance will only pay up if you have alarms and the correct locks.

I know, so nobody is able to claim as far as I know. Gonna look at my policy tonight, see what changes I need to make, just in case!

Thats terrible!!

I got a call this morning at my shop, informing me that a local yard had all its tack stolen and will i let my customers know about it so to pre-warn everyone. This may have been your yard they were talking about?

So very annoying! we had it happen to us at our yard but i always took our saddles home and advised our liveries to do the same.
So the thieves only got away with bridles and bits.

There seems to be loads of yards being broken into around here at the moment. I'm always really careful to padlock our tackrooms if I'm last off the yard. It worries me that being on a big competition yard anyone could be snooping around & they'd just look like any other pupil/competitior.

a field opposite us has had her stables BURNT down! luckily she moved her 3 ponys last week to a livery yard as ones ready to foal but they nicked all her feed and tack that she had yet to move and burnt them down only charcoal posts left!

I feel for you and all the people that had their stuff nicked. I had my tack stolen before christmas one year and had just cancelled my insurance so couldn't claim for it.
It still makes me so angry when I think about it. Glad your stuff was ok.

One of the ladies that loans a horse on our yard is an inspector at the local nick, so the police presence was fantastic! we had 4 police cars and lots of offices taking statements!

At least they did'nt touch the horses or anything else.
