Baby pony's first Water Training Clinic - many pics!...

Lovely horse and lovely pics :).

I'm another in your RC - have hacked through that water many times! Have you been to the Wed night club night? Absolute bargain, lovely laid back evening - perfect for babies (I took one last week who'd only been broken in for 4 weeks ) and plenty of time for a gossip and glass of wine in the sun afterwards. Sadly I can't get to much else because of work.

I don't think it actually is the same riding club. Our's regularly hold xc and water schooling at Osberton, but isn't actually that near to Osberton. However I was reading the e-venting blog about your coloured and saw about your club night and thought how good it sounded!! :)

Oh yes, EMDG do an ODE there don't they? Does the 'D' stand for dressage? That's what puts me off you see... :p
No, we're Blidworth Equestrian RC :)

Ah, apologies. Ours (EMDG) does water schooling with Mark Cavell there too. Are you Ackworth then?

Thought you might be EMDG! I (we) are Blidworth EC :) It's a short trek upto Osberton - but it's well worth it :D

Sorry cross posted!

Thank you for sharing your story. I have a young boy who is also scared of puddles and I want to start hacking him out and introducing him to XC so read your thread with great interest. It's lovely to hear how you got on with your beautiful boy and has got me thinking I need to search out a similar clinic in my area as it sounds like great fun :-)

Glad it's helped! :) The clinic was ace, and achieved exactly what I wanted and a little bit more ;) Certainly worth trying to find something in your locality!

Lovely Report and Photos, I have a Question {Sorry} How Deep was That Water?
Thanks

The river was no more than a foot deep in the part we were jumping, although it may have been a touch deeper when we trotting up stream.

The second complex was quite a bit deeper, and we didn't do any faster work through it - just practised different entries into it. It was probably about 1ft 6 ish maybe a touch deeper in places. I am rubbish at estimating height/depth though, so you might not want to take much notice of me! :o

I hack through all of that water once or twice a month and it varies hugely on the river/rainfall etc.

Great report, amd what an absolutely adorable little horse - just my type :) :)

Looks like a fab clinic too :)

It was fab - I always enjoy them :D Thank You - I think he's adorable, and I'm still utterly shocked at the response this got!

Yes I'm sure it will! It was very dry leading up to the clinic, and I'm sure Mark's said it's been nearly too deep to use at points!

Well done, what a brave boy he was!

Thank You - he's getting braver - even when I'm hanging round his ears, shouting "keep going pony" being utterly useless :o Bless him - he has a lot to put up with!

Thank You, Your Report is giving Me Lots of Visulation for My Book, I was thinking about having to Cross/Jump in a Stream/River in it, so I'm trying to get Depth Info on what I'm jumping into as the Pony in Question is only 9 hands....

If That Makes ANY Sense at all....

Fab report & lovely pony, he looks like great fun. :D

Thank You - he is great fun - you can't help but smile when you ride him! :D

Oh wow! As Gamebird said, depth varies hugely depending on the weather/season! You'll have to send me the title when you've finished - love reading pony books :D

He looks lovely :) Glad you had a good time - it's such a good starting point for ditches and steps as well as water!

We might see you about on a Friday evening from the sounds of things - look out for a bay TB either refusing to go anywhere near anything, or hurtling around at 100mph, because that will probs be me :o

Wow - what a stunning horse!! Gorgeous and SO exciting :)

Thank You! It's all very exciting, never had anything that's got the attitude of this little lad! Just got to make sure I don't mess it all up!

Lovely report and photos! Looks like a cracker you've got there. Can't wait to read more reports.

Thank You! :)

It really is! I'll keep an eye out for you if I'm ever doing the Friday night jumping :)

What a super little horse :) I was out doing something v similar with my boy at the weekend. I really enjoyed your report. Maybe I'll be brave enough to do one of my own now :o

God he looks just the spitting image of my mare!!

You two look like your having great fun

You'll have to post some pictures!

I think you should!

This! You should, I really enjoyed writing it, meant I got to experience it all over again - thinking about what we did and why we did it really helped to cement what we'd learnt as well ;) I'm still shocked at the response my little self indulgent training report has mustered!
