Doesn't sound much, I know, but I went in the school on my own today (with one other riding around in there) and just did a few walk/trot/halt transitions for about 20 minutes. Hugo was absolutely fine and by the time we finished, I felt very confident and happy!!
My next target was actually for tomorrow after my lesson: to ride him from the school up to the barn (only a few hundred feet, but still a challenge for me), so we just marched right round and I hopped off!
I think what's changing through riding him, is that although he's still not 'perfect', I'm not actually so afraid of him any more. I know he is a kind horse and wouldn't do anything deliberately nasty, so even when he is nappy in the school etc I'm getting less and less afraid.
I'll get there in the end!
Sorry - pointless post, but feel pretty pleased!
