Doesn't sound much, I know, but I went in the school on my own today (with one other riding around in there) and just did a few walk/trot/halt transitions for about 20 minutes. Hugo was absolutely fine and by the time we finished, I felt very confident and happy!!

My next target was actually for tomorrow after my lesson: to ride him from the school up to the barn (only a few hundred feet, but still a challenge for me), so we just marched right round and I hopped off!

I think what's changing through riding him, is that although he's still not 'perfect', I'm not actually so afraid of him any more. I know he is a kind horse and wouldn't do anything deliberately nasty, so even when he is nappy in the school etc I'm getting less and less afraid.

I'll get there in the end! :)

Sorry - pointless post, but feel pretty pleased!

well done - that's what I'm doing with my boy just baby steps and building both of our confidence up - this morning was nice had put the haynet up when he came over from other side of hay and went past haynet to see me (probably shouldn't read anything into it he probably wanted to see if I had any treats but I felt loved more than food for a split second!)

Good for you - I'll have to be taking baby steps this year too - read rearing - ignore or reprimand - can't even think about getting on again yet and my mare was such a bomb proof angel and now I'm scared to pieces.
