Just a self-indulgent post with little point but...

My loan neddy manage to severly damage my confidence when she bucked me off in high spirits the first time I rode her, back at home. Have been on for about 5 mins a couple of times, but still very scared.
Had a lesson on Friday afternoon on her. Lunged her first then got my instructor to ride her and then I got on. Didn't do much just walked and trotted round the school, but I felt in control and comfortable.
It was really windy on Saturday so just lunged her and walked in hand down the village then lovely day on sunday so decided to go for a hack.
So we set off down the road, only planning on going half a mile or so, but she was an angel and I was confident and relaxed so we went about 2 miles and back again.
Despite having to sing and talk to myself all the way

, I really feel I've made it over a huge huge hurdle and am back on my way to being my old brave horsey self again! I even felt comfortable giving her a long rein on the way home when she walked, to reward her inbetween the jogging!

Bring on the summer!

*Cookies and tea if you've bothered to get this far*

It was a gorgeous day. I think it was the start of a whole new chapter in my life! Soppy, I know, but I really think it was the start of something.
I would love to be able to have that special bond with a horse, especially this mare, as they say mares are so much more independant and less trusting than geldings but when you do bond with them it's priceless.

Sorry, gone all soft and gooey (and pathetic!)

Oh that's great news, I think you have to remember that you were both new to each other and she's had to get used to her new surroundings, hence why you will now be geling together and feeling better about hacking out...every time you hack out.

Keep up the good work as you'll have some great times to have this summer...hacking out in the sunshine, long summer rides etc

Really well done. Confidence can be lost in seconds and it takes years to regain it. You should be really proud, I'm sure you two will continue to build on yesterday!

Yes I really hope we are gelling together and things continue to get better and better.
Can't wait for the nights to lengthen even more and then I can ride when the kids are in bed.

Believe it or not I actually thought of you, Mrs M, when I added the tea and cookies. I know how you appreciate a fine snack whilst replying to our mundane postings!

I agree we are both listening to each other. She's not very keen on hacking alone, but it's something we'll be doing quite a bit of, so she really needs someone she can trust and can give her confidence. My temporary confidence set-back did nothing to help her, but we're well on our way now.

Very well done and you had to sing just tell me you didnt have to sing 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' when I am really worried its the only song I can remember and it normally goes something like
Baa Baaaa Blaaaack sheep whoops have you um have you um have you any wool!

. What it is to be loved

.

It's a lovely feeling when your ned starts to trust you enough to go where you ask, even if they do think you're barking mad lol. My last mare would go over scary bridges one shaky leg at a time, asking me if I was sure I wanted to go that way and me saying 'yes, come on lass'. Made me laugh, and still brings a smile to my face

. We'd been through the 'You've got to be joking' and bobbing off in the opposite direction, so it was lovely to get through it

Haha! Not quite but almost as bad! The only song/tune I could remember was "Dance your cares away. Worries for another day. Let the music play. Down at Fraggle Rock"!!!

Arrrgghh! I honestly could not remember another song I had heard in all my life. Fraggle Rock must have had some dark underlying effect on my childhood!
