I broke my L1 almost 4 months ago after being thrown from my horse BUT Im now recovered and got back on last week!
It was FAR from easy, my legs went to jelly! I was actually shaking with one foot in the stirrup and the other wobbling on the floor!! I bottled it and told my friend I wasnt ready BUT as I walked away I felt VERY sad.......so turned around to give it another go.....now little strange BUT my boy stands 30 secs for you to mount and we're off normally and NO exaggeration, he stood still and quiet for a good 10 mins while I trembled on the mountain block by his side!! foot in the stirrup, foot out the stirrup, scratch his neck, sh** myself a little more, kind of went like that for some time, it was almost like he knew and was letting me know it was OK to get on, like the last time he let me know it wasnt OK to get on but I didnt listen SO this time I listened to him, starting singing 'zipped-de-doo dar!!!' why that song I have no idea BUT in a split second, I was on!!!
Im fine when on and actually cantered him through the woods 1st ride, it feels SO good to be back.......Ive ridden 5 times this week, I must admit Im VERY nervous when mounting but once on loving EVERY min
I guess I just wanted to share my joy and hope it gives others in my position encouragement
