Our Fabulous horse went to the vet today and it has been advised that he is PTS. He has damage to his DDFT within his foot and at 17, sounds like it won't repare.

All I can say is that I adore this horse, everyone adores this horse. He is a true super star. He has been a true trusters horse, open teamshasing, field mastered, best horse I've riden XC. But he's also been perfect for learners. My novice friend had the best day of her life on him on her first day hunting.

I'm going to miss this boy.

:( xx

So, are you going to follow the vet's advice (or have you?). Horrible thing to hear but was just wondering as you've said they "advised" it but I know others who have gone against this advice and the horse has come sound at the end of it. Obviously it totally depends on the horse and the severity of the damage I guess but sometimes, if it suits the horse's nature, being turned out on fielld rest for several months/years can be the bets medicine. However, I don't know what you have alrrady done so, if this is the only real option left then I am really sorry.

So sorry for you. We can put men on the moon, we can transplant hearts, but we cant fix a silly little tendon. One day I hope this will happen as it seems to be the biggest killer for horses. We lost our boy in January.
