Oh he's just perfect isn't he? Look at those ears
Beautifully written and summed it up completely….(could I add Austin & Salty to that)….Maybe I’m getting softer as I get older, but to see somebody win where the picture all week has been one of harmony, making it look easy (though we all know it’s not!!) not having to over ride or look like they’re chasing their horse. Just a team working together so beautifully and not appearing against each other. They won because they did it together, not a horse being ‘ridden for the win’ in any sort of chasing or aggressive way
Don’t know if I’m explaining myself well here!
Duke of Beaufort……someone must have thrown the tie at him…..The guy in the blue suit giving out the trophies was cracking me and my dad up![]()
Anyone for team predictions for the euros? Obviously Ros, and Tom. But Ollie has a chance on Rosie I would think. But 4th position could still be open? Haven't seen much of London 52 yet? Maybe an individual slot for Harry?
His horse is just stunning!I was still hoping for Austin to win
Walter is great, don’t get me wrong, but please H&H get your facts right. Walter is not the first horse to win two Badmintons with a year in between …Sir Wattie did that in 1988/1986 and Supreme Rock did it back to back in 2002/2003.
H&H social media quote:
Lordships Graffalo once again demonstrated why he is one of the best event horses we have ever seen as he became the first horse to win two Badminton titles with a year’s gap
Umm…that means there was a years gap! He's the first horse to reclaim the title in non-consecutive years - Sir Wattie's wins were back to back given the event was cancelled in 87.
Umm…that means there was a years gap!
Pedantic - 24 months in between regardless of reason. It's seen as a back to back win if there was no competition to win in the interim. In 88, Sir Wattie would have been running as the defending champion/winner.
Its not about the time between, its about winning - someone else being the best - winning.Pedantic - 24 months in between regardless of reason.
I have definitely heard him mention them in interviews, his staff have been with him for a very long time so he can't be too terrible to work for.One thing that does rile me about Oliver T is that he almost never thanks his staff in his posts. So many others now publicly thank their grooms but you just never see him do this
Christ no there was over 100000, commentators said the most number ever! Was really busyAre there fewer spectators than usual this year on XC day?
Interesting that it has been much busier on the Weds to Fri. Wonder if the word is getting out that the XC is best enjoyed viewing from home. Though only if the CMH feed works.
Same! Never again!Despite having been at Badminton today - I am now re-watching on CMH TV with no issues. Very strange.
But it was super busy, and totally suffocating in the shopping area. Was quite hard to get remotely close to any of the rider frighteners. Last time I do a Saturday!
It was 100,000 the year it sold out after the Covid cancellations in 2022 and that was limited because of Covid restrictions…so imagine it was a lot more this weekend and sold out. So probably more like 200,000 that someone quotedChrist no there was over 100000, commentators said the most number ever! Was really busy
More than 200,000 as usual. It's in fact one of the biggest sporting events in the world. It was fine for us. I have been going most years since 1991, so I probably know how to avoid the busy areas.....We arrived at around 8:30am, had breakfast and went shopping before XC started. We walked the whole course, although we didn't bother staying in the popular areas and carried on walking. Amazingly, the Quarry wasn't so busy by the time we reached there!Same! Never again!
I wonder how many were there? Someone said 200,000 but who knows
Telly view must be deceiving, or maybe most of them were shopping!Christ no there was over 100000, commentators said the most number ever! Was really busy
I'm not an Oli fan, but I try to be fair, and I've heard him praise and give credit to his team on multiple occasions. One thing that does rile me about Oliver T is that he almost never thanks his staff in his posts. So many others now publicly thank their grooms but you just never see him do this
Me too. The BBC actually showed a clip of Oli giving his head girl a massive hug yesterday.I'm not an Oli fan, but I try to be fair, and I've heard him praise and give credit to his team on multiple occasions.
