Badminton Entries out.

I cant see anything on instagram

I think she's removed it, I saw it this morning. It was a pretty bad rotational fall at a drop/rail where she was thankfully thrown clear. Have to admit the photos made me feel a bit sick, no fault on the horse or riders part it was just a freak accident and she said the horse was unhurt and she wasn't seriously injured (but aggravated an old injury she now needs surgery on) but these 5* riders are another breed as I'm not sure I could look back on that and feel so relaxed about it, especially after the last serious rotational fall she had a few years back. I know it's just a risk of the sport but wow, to have that much grit and determination, she is insanely resilient 🙈

Looks like she changed her mind or had been asked to remove it. The pics showed her nasty rotational fall during a cross-country schooling session a few weeks ago, and although she was thankfully thrown clear, she unfortunately re-dislocated her shoulder and now needs an op on it. She's now shared a story about it without the pics.

She did say she’d be missing the beginning of the evening season due to the operation, so I’d think that will include badminton?
It’s warming up to be a rocky season already, what with Laura’s fall, Izzy Taylor’s broken leg and poor Louisa Milne Home’s horrible fall.

Well I was due to go to Kentucky as bucket list but cancelled as not putting money into Trumps economy. Unfortunately event tickets are non refundable and Kentucky have been useless at responding to any of my messages offering them the spaces back so am guessing it's not full and my lovely dressage and show jumping seats will sadly remain empty.
Oh no I can't believe you cancelled . Sport is sport it should not be political. Kentucky is a lovely event and so is/was Maryland.

Delighted to see such a strong Irish field. My neighbour and coach Mike Ryan back at 5* level and a very good friend Alice Copithorn also riding with my mares half sister!
Flights over are relatively cheap but cant find anywhere to stay for the weekend :(
Have you tried Bristol? We usually drive and stay there but have gotten lease car too at the airport.

I saw a post that Laura had had her shoulder repaired already. Amazing how quickly they can get things done. I had to wait six months for a similar operation on mine. I wonder how long it will take to get back to fitness? Took me months, but again, I think she’ll probably have access to Olympic level physios and treatments.

Most athletes have private health insurance and access to the best private care available.
Its very likely that if this is a long standing injury the plans would have already been in place for when she needed it/had the time and space to sort it and they have just been accelerated or swung into action.

I’m not being critical.
I remember someone else who was injured years ago saying that they got great care because they were on the Olympic team/pathway.
I had good private insurance when I worked with horses.

I believe she bent existing metalwork in her collarbone so would have required emergency surgery.

Not that emergency! She rode at two BE events in the interim, including piloting 3 rides into the top 4 in the OI at Lincoln last weekend.

She will have access to Oaksey house. Jockeys are regularly back on board a fortnight after collarbone surgery. It may be more complicated because of previous breaks, but then jockeys often have previous breaks too. I wouldn't bet against her being at Badminton.
