I was lucky enough to come home tonight to a prize of 10 vouchers for bags of baileys feed that I won at YHL :D Very happy as I never usually win anything! :D :D

I have been considering putting my horse on a balancer for some time to see if it helps his condition and now I have these vouchers it would make sense to try him on a baileys one. I don't currently feed baileys (or a balancer) though so am not familiar with what they make.

My horse is a 16.2hh, 16 year old TB that is prone to weight loss.

He currently looks like this -

Weight wise I am quite happy with him at the moment but would like more topline on him. He's also likely to drop off slightly when the cold weather hits so a bit more meat on his bones won't do him any harm. His work varies weekly depending on the hours I'm at work/College but he usually gets ridden at least 3 times a week and no more then 6, mixture of hacking, faster work and lessons.

So what would be best to feed him alongside his normal feed? One of the baileys balancers (and if so which one?) or their Outshine (which I have heard good things about?

Can't be anything that is going to make his sharp and silly (their conditioning cubes seem to send him loopy  ).

Thanks in advance :)

What are you feeding him on currently? Is he on the recommended amount so he's getting all required vits and mins?

The outshine is fab! If it was me I would use the outshine along side a balancer till you get the tooling on then just stick to the balancer and add oil to the feed.

Properly go for the performance balancer.

Why not call up and ask them?

He's currently on two feeds a day which consist of -
1 Scoop Alfa A oil
1 scoop super conditioning flakes
and about a scoop and a half of speedibeet

As of tonight he's also on micronised linseed (wouldn't have bought it had I known I'd won the vouchers

He also gets Pink powder and some oil in each feed.

Some horses can be fussy about the taste of Outshine so maybe go for a 5kg tub first before you go for the 20kg sack? If he will eat it, then I think you will be absolutely amazed at his transformation in a couple of months time. I use their lo-cal balancer and outshine and mine look fantastic even if I do say so myself...

Phone their feed line, I think it's very good.

Pink powder can be used to supply all vits and mins I believe.

Is that list of feed per day, or per feed. If its per feed, have you weighed it? It looks quite a lot, and feed shouldn't really be over 2kg per feed.

If you are worried if he will eat it or not, ring Baileys for free sample.

My suggestions would be recommended amount of balancer, outshine, and your alpa-a oil. The Baileys feedline will tell you how much outshine is most appropriate for your circumstances.
