Balding under breastplate straps on shoulder!

yep this time of year one of mine gets really pathetic, it's like the hair is worn out so anything in contact with them rubs terribly. I found sheepskin sleeves really helped, and keeping everything super clean. Look for sheepskin noseband covers or french blinkers. I found it had to be the real deal, synthetic fleece wasn't as effective.

I also found using canter coat shine on the areas helped the tack to 'slip' more easily. Obviously not if it's a girth or similarly crucial piece!

We used sheepskin bridle pieces - like milliepops. You have to keep them scrupulously clean though. For us the answer was to change the breastplate to a different make / design. The new one doesn't rub at all. But it easily could have - more luck that good judgement in that instance!

I had the same problem so switched from a stubben breastplate, to an elastic one so it stretches more as my horse has and exceptional walk and the leather just wasn't giving enough as he stretched forward. not had any problems since changing.
