I have a previous post where i was recommended to use bandages for XC because my horse is an awkward boot size.
I was wondering what bandages people would recommend and any bandaging tips you might have?
I know how to bandage for stable and exercise but any add ons etc would be appreciated!

Thanks

I use polo wraps simply becasue i used to be a polo groom and just love them but there is a fine line in bandaging!! too loose and they will fall and be of no support, too tight and you will do some damage so even pressure on each bandage is the best tip i can give lol hope that helps in some way!

i used to bandage a horse i owned as he had previously done a tendon.

tape or stitch to make sure they don't unravel- i wouldn't use big, thick polo bandages as they will get extremely waterlogged if you are doing water jumps and can slip badly!

Personally I'd try and find boots to fit because bandaging (if inexperianced) can be a bit of a art which really can't be described in words...failing no boots is there anybody else around you who uses bandages who can show you...just try and apply even pressure up and down the bandage and if XC always secure with tape....but really best if a experianced person could show you

i would use elastic bandages with prolite pads or similar underneath which won't hold water.

(i hate the elastic bandages which are very thin like tail bandages though! i likke the more 'cottony' elastic ones if that makes sense!)

i have used bandages for cross country when doing pairs to make all th colours match! however, i bandage for flatwork all the time so have had lots of practise. But i used fleece bandages, over fibregee or bandage pad (escadron are good) underneath. I then over the top put 3 bits of tape round to prevent them coming undon in water etc, but the opposite colour to thaat of the bandage...looks good!
