does any one have one/used one/know which types to avoid?

Due to my horse deciding to have an awkward shaped back

I've decided to try one of these. She's rather prone to broncing so I've been looking at the ones with the stirrups and girths attached... Interestingly though I rode her bareback for the first time at the weekend and apart from one tiny strop she was a sweetie - even though the saddle she's been in for the last few weeks fitted her well.

Thanks

It's got to the stage where I'll have to try something. I've been quoted £700 for a made to measure saddle (I know thats fairly cheap) but she's the type that changes shape dramatically when in work so she'll need another new one in 6 - 12 months and possibly a new one after that

As OH has just had to take a major cut in his salary we can't afford it

I asked an open minded saddler about them, as I wanted a treeless synthetic saddle for beach rides and rainy weather rides.

She said, unless you're under 9 stone (me, obviously not) you shouldn't use them because of the pressure from the stirrups.

I have just bought one of these - a Christ Bareback Pad - for my horse, as he is aged now and hard to fit with a conventional saddle. I had it checked by a physio who said that it was great, unless the girth was done up too tightly, or it was used with stirrups for an extended length of time. Certainly, my horse seems very comfortable in it, and my daughter (who is used to riding bareback) says it's really good.
