Is anyone else like me and just too lazy to actually tack up their horse?!?

I've just popped a bridle on Gray in the field and hopped on. He's not doing major work just now as this is only day 2 back in work. It's great for perfecting your walk-canter-walk transitions lol!

Yep I'm too lazy. Fancy a ride but just can't be faffed with the argument of saddling up! I just hop on when I feel like riding otherwise any braveness goes by the time we're tacked up and ready, too quick to think about any of that if I just do it. Not tried canter yet though, not sure I'm that sticky!

But she doesn't behave in canter! We can just about do trot aha. I'd imagine it would be comfy to sit to though, more moving with the horse, specially with yours

I do, regularly. I'm also way too lazy to tack up, so unless I'm fast hacking alone / jumping big / seriously schooling or practicing something I need stirrups for, I do it bareback.

Quite often. I've got a bareback pad for clean riding in the shedding season (provides a bit more security to my seat on my barrel-shaped horse, too). :)

Every couple of weeks or if I'm doing a short session after work, yes. Mainly stick to walk though, I'm a bit of a wuss!

Yes... Far too lazy unfortunately this time of year does not allow for bareback!
Shedding like mad Highland... Bareback riding... EXTREMELY SORE HAIR SPIKED BOTTOM.

What do you mean you just hopped on?!
I've always enjoyed the odd bare back ride but now I just can't get on without a leg up!

Dragged over to the gate and climbed up it is probably the best way to describe it rather than hop on lol! I can hop on a Shetland but a 17hh is beyond me!

I feel happy when I can mount bareback with some elegance from a log/fence on a good day, "hopping on" on my 16.2hh mammoth is unimaginable! :D

Definitely not. He is uncomfortable enough with a saddle. If I didnt have the saddle, I would be bounced off pretty quickly in trot. Wish I could though, need a highland or a cob that is comfy to ride bareback.

I love riding bareback, that's how I initially learned, ( it was good enough for Pat smythe!) Do need a mounting block/fence etc to get on, my days of vaulting on ended in my 30s!

I find the taller horses much easier to sit and Hackneys are like riding trot on very forgiving springs. I used to ride an ex-racehorse called Mr Robinson, he was not so good for my rear end. I am happily still a member of the hairy bum clique though! Blue jodsnot such a good move.

I love riding bareback. Luckily my ponies are all 14hh and under, which makes jumping on possible, if not dignified.

What I still haven't worked out though, is why it seems to leave you with such aches and pains... I ride regularly, and on the face of it, I'm doing exactly the same thing, saddle or no saddle, but after a few miles bareback I'm stiff as a board the next day.

That's all well and good. But have you had your bottom checked out by a qualified saddle fitter to make sure it fits??

Surely it's a not a saddle fitter she needs??

In my experience saddle fitters will just say your current saddle doesn't fit and theirs does whether that's true or not. I wouldn't want JFTD to be pushed into getting a new derrière when the one she has is surely perfectly fine.

Literally crying at this while imagining someone having their bottom reflocked!

Well that would be all that was left for JFTD to have done because she's now out of her 30 day period to reject faulty goods I think.

I would have thought the sale of goods act covers faults for a reasonable period so perhaps more than a month. Or would it be medical negligence? I wouldn't want to have mine adjusted more than once, if it fits, I sits!

The consumer rights act (2015) would possibly applicable here which would give JFTD 30 days to reject on the grounds the item is faulty if she bought online or over the phone (perhaps JFTD could clarify how she came about her bot). After that she could still reject the item but they could claim it had been used (have you been using it JFTD!?) and try to give her a smaller one (refund I mean) than she would otherwise be legally entitled to.

Also there is the section of the act which covers "reasonable care and skill" so if the original bot producer/provider/fitter can be proven to have been negligent (for instance if the goods don't fit or are lets say, wonky) she would have grounds for a claim there too.

However we look at this, her ass is covered.

Thanks to the BHS gold legal helpline for providing this information ;)

I go away for five minutes and you're all talking about my bottom again

I shall ask her when she comes out to fit D's new bridle...

I don't want my saddle fitter's bottom. My own bottom is quite challenging enough to control...

:eek3: That's the last thing I need!

Are you calling my bottom old? You'll be saying it's saggy and unalluring next :(

Oh I say! I'm using my bottom right now. It's hard to type on a laptop standing up! Even if my ass is wonky...
