So after a good 3 months of my boy being lame ( previously had 8 months off last year though not due to lameness) and us trying a range of shoes; pads, pads with filler, pads with frog supports, no pads etc etc. I decided with the support of my vet, to take my wimpy tb barefoot!

We had a few little false alarms with lami. Doing in hand walking. At first I stuck to the school but thought about taking him up the road but it seemed a little too much ( Have been using boots on his fores) and he is currently quite sore behind. Though I am pleased so far with how he is doing.

I know I have the thrush to deal with and he is sore at the moment. But I think we are starting to head in the right direction

His skin looks sore on that last picture. I can see a wound, but does he suffer from LV or mud fever? He has very little wall, so I'd perhaps add boots behind for now.

Yes its LV that he suffers from. Sadly the cavallos rub right on that scab :( I thought he was sore behind ( recently refused to move off the grass/ stable matts and school) So unless he is on them surfaces I have booted him fully.

They don't look too bad at all, How is his LV looking? Has he got it on all four legs?
His LV we seem to be slowly getting somewhere with it,finally!( Litrally we have seen hardly any improvement since last August!! Its never fully gone and come back at a cetain time for example, we have just never been able to have a period of it completely gone since this started more then a year ago!) Just his hinds.

Are you adjusting the diet to provide a hi fibre lo sugar forage based diet with minerals for hooves and linseed for skin.
and salt

My horse is on micronised linseed and forage plus hoof health balancer which had not helped his LV unfortunately, he's been on it for years as he's unshod.

anything going on higher up with the left hind?

If walking and if they fit and if the cavallos are problematic with the LV I have been known to use an easyboot glove shell only/glue on type so no gaiter so nothing above the coronet. Obv rely on pretty good fit then though, my main issue is that without the gaiter - which you aren't supposed to pull on anyway! - they are a pain to get off.

The only thing out of the things you have mentioned is the salt

Its actually his right hind not left. Yeah I need to think of some other boots that would rub/ catch on the scab.
