Four years ago my horse had a bad abcess in one foot and x rays showed some rotation. After 4 years of various heartbars, pads etc she now has a much more normal looking sole and has ordinary shoes in front and has had none behind for 4 years, hinds look fine, flare a little in between farrier but she is a big horse. My problem is she keeps pulling the fronts off leaving a raggy hoof wall with less to nail into everytime. Been out this morning same one off again after 3 weeks, luckily its not the foot with the rotation. I turn her out it thick overreach. Going to ring farrier later and ask him about the possibility of her going barefoot. Anyone with any experiance of this or am i going to cause more harm than good

No experience with pedal bone rotation but plenty of experience with horses who can't keep shoes on. My TB is a nightmare. He lives in O/R boots. He's now on formula 4 feet which has made a huge difference to his hoof quality which I think has helped. I also have him in natural balance shoes as these seem to stay put much better. Personally I found that farriers played a huge role. With some farriers his feet looked good but every shoeing he was pulling shoes off. With my current farrier he's only lost two back shoes (he came in without both one day, don't ask me how). Bare foot was not an option for my boy but the combination of the natural balance shoes, formula 4 feet and a good farrier seem to have worked.

Yes it is possible and quite a good opption.
The horse will need to be trimmed regularly to maintain the angle of the foot. The fact that the horse is now in normal shoes suggest that she no longer require the support for the pedal bone to remain sound so having her trimmed without shoes is probably a good idea.

However, continue to have her trimmed by a farrier. not a barefoot trimmer. Farriers are trained to deal with this kind of foot condition and it is unfortunatly all the easy to get it wrong!
