Hi All,
Long time no see.
I just thought you might like a bit of an update on me and mine as I've been busy as a busy thing and not been on here much. I'll even throw in a competition report if you like, although it was less like eventing and more like all-in wrestling thanks to Jup and Cal developing even more "personality" and being a couple of know-it-all event ponies.
Firstly, HH is now officially a Hunter, and a Fieldmaster's Hunter at that. I brokered a deal
which resulted in me becoming the proud owner of Marty and OH becoming the lucky pilot of the Good Ship Huge Horse, soon to be seen disappearing over hedges in the Vale of Belvoir.
Sad, I know, but I decided I'd done as much as I could with him and his showjumping was always going to let him down...square pegs, round holes and all that. So, Marty is now Marty McBaydale and being fast-tracked back into BE after languishing in his easy life for a bit too long. He had a torn muscle in his back so had been off for a while, but now it's all go go go in my quest to find if he does actually have ribs and make him look less like a county level show hunter. He's decided the only upside of being my main man is that he gets more food to sustain the level of work - woo hoo.
Just to give you a break from the tedium of this report, here's HH at Aske, squeezing his bulk through a tiny space:

And Marty at Buckminster, squeezing his bulk through a tiny space with the minimum effort:

Right, onto the other inmates, now affectionately called the Cheeky Boys aka Jup and Cal (or Cow, or Moo Cow, since OH misheard me when he arrived and then commented on the cow-like ears.
How rude.) I've been BYEH-ing with the odd rosette and some very cute clear rounds but nothing good enough to qualify,. Then lately we have ventured into the big, bad world of BE, starting at Wolverhampton where Cal managed a 6th and Jup didn't manage anything much, other than surprising me with his xc round: so much less slug-like than last year. I've also done two 5yo classes, Buckminster and Great Witchingham, but suffice to say my two are not polished enough to be giving Pippa and William reason to watch their backs, and whoever has stolen my ability to do dressage, would you please return it, and soon!
Here are some vids from yesterday at GW:
Jup has a problem walking (loves cantering though), paying attention and generally containing his enthusiasm, hence my face like thunder at the end as it gets a bit wearing after a while:
