Baydale's Back in the Groove - Arena UK training show with vids

QR (speedy lunchtime viewing) all looking fab, the Marty exercise was interesting and def made an immediate impact
grin.gif
- and as for HH, I just love his windmilling tail....
grin.gif
- all far too much fun (and easy) to warrant serious concentration!!

Saf - I do think it's better to be able to add strides than not. What amazes me is how Marty can run himself to the bottom of something and still leave it up. I'd like to think I'm making it easier for him to jump if he's not rushing, but he'd rather struggle so sod him.
mad.gif

They are all looking fab
grin.gif
!

It's a good job HH isn't any smaller . . . otherwise I would have been and stolen him
tongue.gif
, but I don't think he's fit in my little stables
frown.gif
! He's such a cool pony
grin.gif
!

Great vids, and great to see all the boys! You could try a standing with Marty but with an elastic insert, gives them the support they need in front but without being too restricting should they really need to get their head up

[ QUOTE ]
Send them my way!
grin.gif

You keep promising me HH but has so far failed to materialise on my yard
frown.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Will do that shortly, but only if you promise NOT to send me any baby vids when you finally produce.
tongue.gif

I don't think you're in any fit state to cope with HH at the moment and he would drive Mr Worried up the wall....however, ask me again on a bad day.
smirk.gif

That will be a sad day - but by the looks of things he just wants to be out and about enjoying himself! His camp head shaking is awesome - you should charge extra for that
grin.gif
! What level do you think he will be able to manage? Will he event or stick to pure show jumping? (Sorry, i don't know much about KS!)

Doesn't he remind you of King Boris with that tail? You can't knock him for enjoying his work, but I'll soon wipe that grin off his face when he does BD at the weekend.
tongue.gif

Thanks jumptoit - you could always make the breeder an offer for Venus, the 15.2 HOYS-winning version of, and full sister to, HH as I'm sure she'll have the same family traits.
smile.gif

Saratoga - I've just been perusing Ebay for one of those thanks. We've got a very old and frayed one that just has elastic for one third of its length, but with my luck it'll go ping and I'll have a broken nose.
crazy.gif

TeaBee - I think he'd skip round 1* fine, 1.20m showjumping, he's very easy on the flat too (changes are his most favourite thing, although his extended trot is uber smart) so could do dressage. He'll also hunt in a snaffle, so he's a good all-rounder. The KS will just need medicating twice a year approx, depending how much work he's doing etc.

I just sent off my normal standing martingale to a saddler and she inserted a couple of inches into it. Didn't cost a lot from memory. Definitely get some decent strong elastic in there though, broken nose is definitely something to avoid!! lol

Sounds fab - i am sure you will easily find him a lovely home! (But maybe you should keep him until the start of next season to hunt!
grin.gif
)

What a day; really productive! Beautifully ridden!

but on those distances all that seemed to happen was that the jump went flat.

[/ QUOTE ] Being 3 long strides, that’s what usually happens; distance doesn’t help imo

WOW! HH looks just fantastic! Just look at him all connected, he’s really concentrating
cool.gif
cool.gif

Your vids are such a pleasure to watch - wish I could ride like that
blush.gif

Glad to see the boys back in action and do love the HH with his long legs and all
grin.gif

These are super, thanks Baydale, love love love HH, he's fab!!! I'm also a member of the 5'2 / 17hh club ;-p Bet its good to be back on board!
laugh.gif

Its really interesting to see what it was like down at Arena, i was trying to imagine what they would do and where they would do it all! I thought this would be great for me and my boy next month.
blush.gif

Can i ask, was the dressage similar, do they mark your tests and give you CC ??

Super vids and OMG the wind,
tongue.gif
were the marquees blowing up and deflating?? Scared my poor horse to death last thursday at the stressage
tongue.gif
grin.gif

TeaBee - I wish I could keep him to hunt, or if he had more bone my OH could have him to Field Master on.

Thanks UncleJr, HH was concentrating very hard, as a couple of months ago he would most definitely have flattened both fences on such a long related distance.
crazy.gif

Aw, thank you teapot, that's a lovely thing to say.
smile.gif
HH is a bit freaky looking, isn't he?
wink.gif

Thanks sw. It will be indoors normally, I'm not sure where they'll do the dressage though. Last time I went Robyn judged the test and then went through it with you, which was really useful - she's v good. Will hopefully meet up with you soon then....BigHorsesRUs.
smirk.gif

I have to confess that I read your post earlier and have been trying to think of something witty to say in return all day
blush.gif
. However I'm now home, still haven't had a brainwave and have opened the red so it's down hill from here in the mental acuity stakes
smirk.gif
.

I think Marty has come on loads, he doesn't seem to care how he gets to a fence but manages to do the right thing when he gets there so that's OK then. He must give you the odd nervous moment on the way in though
crazy.gif
.

The big boys are as good as your earlier FB status promised and I swear HH is even better than at EHOA (and even cockier
wink.gif
).

Lovely to see Hector out and about and if I win the lottery this weekend I would love to have him as a schoolmaster/fun horse. He could certainly teach me a thing or two about dressage!

We went there Arena UK yesterday too had a very good time. Only my boys second time jumping away from home although very green was very pleased at the way he went. Hope to take him again.

Seeing as last time I saw H he was upside down in a ditch, have to say he looks AOK!
Your other chap, well,'chapeau' as they say,his improvement is a credit to you and the trainer,of course, but,I would say, without a doubt, that the 'bu**er could jump a house' so...'bonne chance!'

Gamebird - that's not like you to be lacking in the wit department, are you ill?
confused.gif
I don't have a problem with Marty unless I can see the whites of his eyes on the approach.
crazy.gif
Oh, and Hector said he'd love to come to you as long as you take him hunting too - he can do "drains".
smile.gif

SSMegan - it's a worthwhile outing, isn't it?

sj_mummy - yep, Hector being upright is definitely a better look for him.
wink.gif
I'm sure HH could jump a house but I need him to leave the tiles on.....
mad.gif

Ah - we call them gutters here but I think he'd love it. Can throw in a hedge and five-bar gate or two for good measure and a spot of gentle 3DEing in the summer (we'll only be going for the parties so as long as he shows up on all three days it's good enough for me
wink.gif
).

Cool, will buy a lottery ticket and clear a stable for him
laugh.gif

HH is 'growing into himself' so much he is starting to make your legs look short which is a scary thought really
tongue.gif
He was definitely enjoying himself, were there little squeaks to go with the little 'bounces' he was doing. Did you make him wait until last to jump??

Lovely to see gorgeous H and naughty Marty again.

Does it not have the insert in addition to the standard configuration? The elasticised ones I've seen/had (not at all common in N. America - we just go old fashioned
smile.gif
) have an elastic piece stitched along the leather, slightly shorter, so the elastic "catches" first but the leather limits it and acts as a safety should the elastic give.

Gamebird - make sure you buy a lucky one as I've never managed to win even a tenner.
frown.gif

Thanks Fiona, and of course I made him wait until last, just in case it turned into a long session.
mad.gif
And yes, there were squeaks and grunts to accompany his special moves.
laugh.gif
I think he might have grown but as I haven't got a measuring stick that goes over 17.2 I may well never know.

TarrSteps - I've found one like that on Ebay but it's £26 which I thought was expensive.

Well done Thistle, that's more affordable.
grin.gif

Baydale
I think it was worth the outing. I hope that the lady who rides for me was not to tired as he was a hard work yesterday. But it is something that I think that we will be doing again soon.

They are all lovely big!! boys, you ride them very well-am super jealous!
I think my favourite is Hector but I would happily kidnap them all and put myself on a stretching machine (i'm a complete midget) so I could attempt to ride them :P

Ooo thanks Baydale, even more attractive being indoors.....brrrrrr! Will fix a date up and get it all booked in, so may see you there soon! I don't think i'll miss you by the looks of HH!!
grin.gif
I'll be the other pea on the grey drum!
