The BBC interviewer is Ritchie Pasad (sp) - he does racing coverage but he said it's his first Badminton!

Is it penalised if you change speed after jumping the last fence?

i think i read that in a rule book somewhere...

[/ QUOTE ]

nope. you are absolutely not allowed to hit the horse after jumping the last fence, but Merran Wallis did it in view of the whole world at Beijing and nobody said a word... (apart from a few of us on here, of course!!!)

Don't think I've seen WFP ride so well - beautiful ride on Idalgo

absolutely, such a class act, and so nice to see him NOT rush the horse in the last few strides as if riding a Grand National finish. absolutely beautiful riding.

They are taking the P a bit now aren't they!

I can't see how they are going to fit 20 rounds in before 3.00pm.

Question - you'd have to have your number bib quite loose over those air-bag jackets haven't you? Otherwise it would stop the inflation?

Not sure whether I like them or not

Least the Exo would actually help if a half a ton of horse was landing on you, the air bag, just cushions the blow (if it goes off)

Yes it really is taking the P now - I'm listening to Radio Badminton which is covering the SJ live and they're already on 3rd rider - Paul Tapner

they only inflate outwards a few inches, but yes, i think bib would have to be looseish.
they do take your breath away when they inflate, really pressurise your torso.
i don't like how loud they are, but they may be quieter than the one that i tested years ago.
not a patch on the Exo imho.

Next year it'll be better as the show jumping will be on the bank holiday monday which I think means more coverage time
