Thought Id do a little report, as my donkey has had a busy old week. Took Chance to Barton EC on Wed this week, arrived late & Chance was in proper donkey mode. Went in for the first test (N22) after a 5 minute warm-up, but fortunately Chance perked up a little & did quite a nice test despite several rider errors

(I swear to God the centre line wasn't straight

) Not hoping for anything great, but came 2nd with 65.5%

For the second test, in an attempt to shake some life into Chance I took him for a little hack, before going in for the dreaded N37

He did a really nice test apart from 3 consecutive movements, where he broke twice in his medium trot, then lost his balance as a consequence and halted way past C, then hollowed so couldn’t do a nice rein back. Despite the mistakes we still managed 62%

which was enough to win the class

as everybody else fluffed it up worse than me

Today went up to Beaver Hall; it was so busy up there so I thought I didn’t stand a chance, there was 20 in the Nov R & 30 in the class, but he loved the busy atmosphere (lots of stallions around

) did a very nice N21 with 68%; which came 1st in the Nov R & 2nd overall

. Warmed up for the 2nd class which was a bit of a nightmare, the Advanced class was running in the consecutive ring which meant I (on my overgrown conne pony

) was warming in with Sue Carson, Laura Fortune & Steph Croxford

so after I was pushed around relentlessly by lots of fancy riders, I gave in after only warming up for 5 minutes, which was a shame. Nonetheless he did a nice test and got 66% & came 3rd

Thanks for reading xxx

Well done - I forgot to enter Beaver for today
crazy.gif
and then it was full! Who was judging the Novice? Do you know how Laura Fortune did? Could send her a text but that would cost me

Linda Vernon was judging the non-qualifier (Hence why I was very very pleased with my 68%

), & Polly Morton (I think thats her name) was judging the qualifier. I have to say the judges deserve a pat on the back - LV was judging from 9am until 6pm! Im not surpised it was full, it was crazily busy, particularly the P & N classes; do you compete at BH often?
I've probably seen you around!

I think LF came 3rd in the medium with 65ish%; not sure about her other class if she did one....

I like Linda Vernon and P Morton - both fair but realistic judges. Always like riding for them. Pleased for Laura - she was doing the AM as well. I'm often up at BH - love it up there, even on a cold day! Always a nice atmosphere. Taking my baby up there next Thursday to school so it'll be his introduction to many years of competing there hopefully!!!

Well done again!

I have to confess that Linda Vernon scares me just a little & she has a habit of throwing my pony out of classes, saying we've had errors of courses when he naps? I always like polly Morton; plus she's a grey fan which always works in my favour as I own 2! I think BH is the coldest place known to man - good luck with your baby this week!
