Thought Id do a little report, as my donkey has had a busy old week. Took Chance to Barton EC on Wed this week, arrived late & Chance was in proper donkey mode. Went in for the first test (N22) after a 5 minute warm-up, but fortunately Chance perked up a little & did quite a nice test despite several rider errors
(I swear to God the centre line wasn't straight
) Not hoping for anything great, but came 2nd with 65.5%
For the second test, in an attempt to shake some life into Chance I took him for a little hack, before going in for the dreaded N37
He did a really nice test apart from 3 consecutive movements, where he broke twice in his medium trot, then lost his balance as a consequence and halted way past C, then hollowed so couldnt do a nice rein back. Despite the mistakes we still managed 62%
which was enough to win the class
as everybody else fluffed it up worse than me
!
Today went up to Beaver Hall; it was so busy up there so I thought I didnt stand a chance, there was 20 in the Nov R & 30 in the class, but he loved the busy atmosphere (lots of stallions around
) did a very nice N21 with 68%; which came 1st in the Nov R & 2nd overall
. Warmed up for the 2nd class which was a bit of a nightmare, the Advanced class was running in the consecutive ring which meant I (on my overgrown conne pony
) was warming in with Sue Carson, Laura Fortune & Steph Croxford
so after I was pushed around relentlessly by lots of fancy riders, I gave in after only warming up for 5 minutes, which was a shame. Nonetheless he did a nice test and got 66% & came 3rd
