Definitely. Prelim gold doing something other than guaranteeing a first place rosette (as the only one in the class) will probably see my affiliate the newbie sooner than I would have done ?

Just had a quick look at this on the BD website as hadn't seen it. Does this mean Prelim Gold is now open to all with no restrictions? This would be great if so as would have something to aim my young horse at.

Edited: Just answered my own question as found it in the rules. This is great news for us amateurs who have a new young horse. :-)

I think it is a step in the right direction! Especially when I am starting to work towards PSG+ and was wondering if I would have to do area festivals only as wouldn't be competitive at that level at gold and now there would be something to aim for :).

yes definitely. especially as they axed the small tour champs which was going to be my other aim at this level. I'll probably stick to AFs anyway esp now they've stopped the 2 round thing.

I'm very pleased with the Prelim Gold change, like MP I'll affiliate my loan horse earlier now. Previously I had planned to get him to some prelim unaffs for experience and wait until he's ready for Novice, but we may as well crack on with affiliated Prelim once I know he's not going to kill me at competitions :p It's also good news for when my young PRE is ready to be a human carrier!
