Has anyone seen the changes to the website? They are now showing up no shows, eliminations and retirements.

I thought that when they would start showing retirements and eliminations it would be for all future results but they seem to have done it historically! What a turn up that will be for some people that have previously retired so that a poor result doesn't show on a horses record!

I wouldn't always assume it's to protect a record. For some, definitely. But I've retired on the past, once when I had underestimated how poorly I was and physically couldn't finish the test, stubborn as I am 🙄
And once when it was unravelling to the point I thought it was unhelpful to the horse to continue.
But I think it is correct to show the full record, I came to dressage from BE where there is nowhere to hide 🤣

I think it's fair to show eliminations and retirements. However, I don't think it's fair to show the withdrawals made in advance of the competition. I've withdrawn before after being let down by transporters, when I felt ill, when it was too icy to travel, and when I had injured myself. Even withdrawals I made before times went out have gone on my record. There's even one entry where the whole competition was cancelled and it says withdrawal next to my name!

It doesn't matter, since neither of my horses are getting sold on, but I do think it's unfair. Many times withdrawals are out of our control. I can see buyers in the future looking at it and assuming that the withdrawal was due to lameness, a refusal to load or some other issue with the horse, when it might be completely innocent. I'm not sure what is gained by recording withdrawals either.

I absolutely agree with you!

They are also showing what was the old 'training' section results, which is kind of good for me as they are normally better results than my actual ones! hahaha. But I like seeing all of the results as that can give a better all round picture of a horses dressage career rather than a carefully managed one.

Definitely agree- I am just so surprised they've done it for previous results.

I am not really over concerned as not producing a horse to sell but agree putting in withdrawals is a bit strange. I've withdrawn because of having a really bad cold, road conditions etc nothing to do with the horse.

I have not yet looked, but I will just be astonished that BD have up to date results on the website

I am also from BE, where everything shows. Seems fair to me, but then I rarely sell one on. I guess it will be a surprise to people that they have backdated the results that were advertised that would not show. I wonder how that sits with EDPB???

Oooh, I just had a look. I am happy. No withdrawals, no retirements ad the only time not top 5 was the regionals. Not that I have done a huge amount, just 70 points. But, if I had been looking to sell the record would have been OK.

I really like the changes, and my record is now more accurate and up to date than it ever was!
Bit surprised that withdrawals show, but it doesn’t really affect me as I’m just a hobby rider and I have no intention of ever selling my horse. I also don’t think an occasional withdrawal on a record would worry me (as a buyer) as there are hundreds of reasons to withdraw. I’d actually forgotten that I’d withdrawn before...it was a change of plan as the show was rescheduled and the new date didn’t suit the original plan.
