Mine gets done every year but if there are any mouthy issues I get our EDT out straight away. He's a really calm and even tempered guy- great for the youngsters

Yes all mine have seen the EDT. I use Andy Cross. Hes great can even get a hrose that use to need sedating to hae its teeth done without sedation.

He recommonds every 6 months to a year.

Mine both see the EDT every six months as they are both young and have changing mouths. I can produce receipts to prove this if required! :D

EDT, every 8 months at the moment. The EDT was recommended by my vet. When horse was at vets for surgery a year or so ago they were very complimentary about how well his teeth had been done.

My one horse has to have them every 6 months as she had a very bad mouth when I got her through neglect, apparently looked as though she had NEVER seen an EDT in her life. Anyway, she now has a gap between two teeth where food gets trapped. So, as the EDT has to come out for her then the gelding also gets looked at every 6 months, although he has a good mouth and could get away with a less frequent appointment.

Archies has a supernumery tooth and has to see the dentist every four months, at least, sometimes 3.

And its not covered by my insurance, claimed once and then a clause was put in :(

Yes, every six months without fail! They haven't had any problems in the past, I just like them to be checked twice a year as IMO a year is a long time to wait if there were any problems!

makes me wonder how we all managed not-so-long-ago when there was no such thing as a horse dentist.

I think the previous owners of my 13 yr old thought that. She showed no signs of discomfort but when she saw my EDT, she had hooks and sores inside her mouth. Seemingly, by the state of her mouth, she had never had her teeth done. Stoic little mare never complained.
All mine are seen every 10 months or if needed, more frequently. When EDT comes, he checks them all and only treats the ones that need something doing.

annually by EDT

My thoughts re vets / edt

edt specialises in teeth :D

one can get other specialists via a vet if required and imo vet is like a human GP ..... does assessment and deals with what he is good at and refers on when needed. Gp's do not attempt to deal with teeth ;)

why have a problem with regard to edt, who undertake training, when we use physios/ chiropracter and other professionals as required to maintain our horses health.

Every 6/7 months without fail.

He has a slight parrot mouth & daughter can feel very easily when he needs doing again. Most people I know just get them done annually when jabs are due

Can't vote as it doesn't show on my phone but have mine seen once a year or sooner as advised by my EDT. Renewed insurance with Petplan this year (was NFU but premiums rocketed) and they said a policy term was to get their teeth checked at least once a year.
