Remaining optimistic about the weather forecast... what are we all up to?

Kira has a lesson this eve. Off to help a friend at her first BD show tomorrow.
Salty has her first show on Saturday *gulp*
Arena hire for K on Sunday.

Have fun all... keep on doing the "No snow" dance :D :D :D

Good luck with Salty MP :) x x

I had two mega gridwork lessons with my connie on Mon and Tues evenings, so he hasn't done a whole lot since. There is a show with a nov connie class on Sunday, so we might go, and then gridwork again on Monday.

Son's pony stopped twice with him on Friday at his first competition, so he was disappointed. Maybe she is trying her luck, as when 12yo neighbor rode her on Sunday she was foot perfect over far bigger fences.

He then had a good gridwork lesson on his old pony on Tuesday :)

Unfortunately he now has chicken pox so our weekend may be affected by how spotty he is.

He could do FR class and Welsh A FR at the show on Sunday, or wait until his lesson on Monday to ride her.

Fiona

Good luck competing both - especially with Salty MP... Remember to pack her 'brain on the job' pants in the lorry :D

I'm refusing to accept that there will be any snow. And therefore assuming that there won't be, I am going xc on Sunday with an hho'r, which will be very exciting. Haven't told the horse yet as he will be giddy with excitement (and he's far too big for that :p)

Have fun everyone

The girls have an NSEA SJ competition next weekend. So they are at an NSEA training clinic this Saturday and then I'll take them to a local SJ comp on Sunday to practice round a course. Amber and I are dressaging tomorrow. Don;t know the tests yet. Argghh!

I'm doing the no snow dance too, as I'm meant to be staying in a caravan all weekend!
Friday having a lesson on a school horse as Daisy is now not stopping for my trainer or his assistant but as soon as I hop on the nap is back, so it must be something I'm doing but none of us can spot what it is. The school horses are very good and highlighting what the riders up to so hopefully we'll find the issue :)
Saturday is full day clinic and then Sunday is show day.
If the above all goes well, hopefully I can bring Daisy home Sunday night, if not she gets to stay at boot camp a while longer.

Also hoping for no snow. Saturday I have a gridwork clinic and sunday we are doing a dressage comp at our home yard. At the moment the forecast is changing between snow and no snow but VERY cold (feels like -11)

Baby mare goes to her first clear round on Saturday and then I think we'll be going into hibernation as the 'feels like -9' hits us Saturday night

I have planned to do clear round SJ and XC schooling before our first ODE next weekend - but seeing as even ‘we always have perfect ground’ Swalcliffe have cancelled, I don’t hold out much hope of getting a run!

I really feel for all those events who’ve had to cancel, such a tough decision :(

My weekend plans have already been abandoned, so I took my mare to the Writtle College open day thing yesterday to participate in a polocrosse demonstration with three much more accomplished players and their speedy polocrosse ponies. My mare was practically perfect in every way - not bothered about the busy environment, the audience, or the other ponies in and out of her space. Gold star for the clever pony - I even let her borrow a bridle with a browband for the occasion ;)

Good luck / fun everybody !
I can finally join in again. We have our first dressage comp of the year on Saturday , a novice and a young dressage horse class .. normally would not bother with the young dressage horse classes here with my slightly round Connie X .. against the flashy German young horses it makes no sense, but it is a 'over 40s' Amateur dressage weekend .. so I am hoping that there may be some normal horses there .. and if nt , I will just smile sweetly at everyone one as we career around in my jumping saddle (the germans are always a bit shocked by that :-) )

I saw last night that they have a prize each day for the most 'horse friendly' warm up .. so it is slightly encouraging that they are starting to try to improve the working in habits here :-) - maybe I should trot round patting him alot and working on a long rein and we may have a chance to get a prize ;-)

Richard Ramsay showing clinic has been cancelled/rescheduled which im gutted about but can understand why! Other half is happy as it means he may get to go hunting instead....weather dependant

Saturday is st Patrick's day so bonus statutory holiday on Monday. Bonus day off yay :)

Saturday I have a jumping lesson, Sunday will probably hack, Monday arena hire

Will be prepping for next weekends dressage test- prelim 17 which I quite like

On Sunday I have booked a hack in Richmond Park with two friends.
One of the friends has tried to wriggle her way out of the hack when she found out about the snow, but after a bit of convincing she is now ready to come.

My horse is doing his first novice dressage. He isn't really ready yet but has had 72-76 at his two prelim shows. I thought it would be a nice outing to get some feedback and give ourselves a benchmark and stuff to work on for our next dressage show which will probably only be in June. There are 35 riders in my classes including some very well established combos so placing in the top half would be an achievement honestly :D

Horse then also has his first 90cm on wednesday (he's jumped one 80cm round so far and that is it!)

Opposite problem here though...I've drawn 11.30am as my riding time and it is likely to be sweltering. Riding in a jacket in 35 degrees is the bane of my life during show season!

Variations on the theme of a 'no snow dance!'

And doing the County show entries for the clydesdale; at 20, he's far too old for that level but I remember being a 5 year old kid watching the heavy horses there and I refuse to miss out now I have one (we don't even always come last there!)

Sincerely hope that the beast from the east doesn't disrupt plans too much . I have an early morning lesson on Saturday then a dirty filthy hairy cob to bath and swaddle in a vain attempt to keep clean . Collecting trailer from storage , virtually reversing it on a sixpence at yard ready. We are competing Sunday, if it doesn't get cancelled, it'll be the first time I've competed without a caller and i am a tad apprehensive. Went through first test last week with my instructor , doing second on Saturday , please cross fingers that my memory doesn't go to jelly and I end up making a twit of myself .
Whatever you end up doing have fun and stay safe , and up yours eastbeast !

No snow forecast in the Costa del Cumbria as far as I know. Got non-horse plans for Saturday (running a 18km trail race on my own two feet... main aim to get round within the time and not disappear in the mud somewhere on course). If my legs still function on Sunday we will probably take The Beast hacking if it hasn't actually frozen.

Good luck and have fun with all your busy plans everyone!

Good luck everyone competing and enjoy lessons / schooling everyone else! PF - wow, your Saturday plan sounds pretty bonkers :O

I’m hacking on Saturday before house hunting and long dog walk with a friend who’s visiting from the big smoke. Sunday I’m taking Indio to Sparsholt and hopefully putting into practice all our training from last weekend at AMD!

We’ve had a pretty busy few days so far this week.

Raz started working on M76 in his lesson on Tuesday morning - the trot half pass is still a work in progress and the walk piris were rather interesting ;) but the canter work is feeling really nice at the moment. Felt very grown up cantering down that first centre line :)

Newbie Henry had his first lesson with my flat work trainer and we spent the majority of the lesson getting him going forwards off my leg. Lots to work on with him but I’m really liking him so far.

Beau had a jumping lesson Tuesday night with a different trainer (an eventer as opposed to a pure SJ trainer). We only had one slight bobble when Beau refused to go anywhere near the bottom end of the arena we so circled to get a better line into the next fence. But other than that he was fab.

Then yesterday both Raz and Henry were diagnosed as having ulcers, which I’m hoping will explain the spooking in both of them. Started treatment yesterday and so far so good - Henry definitely felt less spooky today, although he still needs his hand holding going into the scary bottom end of the school.

I’m hoping to go to Falkirk to jump on Sunday so will need to give Beau a jump to make sure we still have brakes before we go.
Raz and Henry will probably do a day of poles and maybe a few fences, and a day of flat work, then Sunday off if I’m away jumping.

Good luck to all out competing. :)

My saddler is due out on Saturday so I'm joining in the 'no snow' dance. Something isn't sitting right and I really want to get it sorted so I can rule it out if napping persists. Surely summer must turn up soon??!!

Hacking out tomorrow and Saturday.
Then we should be off to Sparsholt for BD on Sunday, so definitely doing a no snow dance - or hoping for lots of snow so that they cancel, rather me having to decide whether to pull out or not.

I’m another one doing the no snow dance. And I’d like the wind to drop - can’t (or won’t) tow if it’s still as strong as just now. Supposed to be at local BD on Saturday, and as last one was cancelled due to frozen conditions would be gutted if this one was snowed (or stormed) off.
Good luck everyone - and keep dancing...

Hope the snow holds off for everyone!

I have a lesson tonight on the baby pony, and a lesson tomorrow on the old man. We all have lots to work on on the flat, jumping has been a lesson focus recently.

Sunday the old man and I have a training day, dressage and jumping to put all our new skills to use. After that we both have the physio which I think we need!

Most recent weather forecast for me is heavy snow and breezy!

Our 3 phase eventing training day has been cancelled/rescheduled. We were going to do SJ arena hire instead but I think we may abandon that idea as if the forecast is true, it'll be a bit risky travelling in a trailer. So maybe a jump lesson at home again.

Also trying to get my saddler out, I've found a dressage saddle that seems to fit well but just a bit too wide so need to see if flocking it will do... fingers crossed!

Good luck/have fun to all, especially those that manage to get out and about :)

Our Weekend starts later this afternoon, have a SJ lesson at a lovely local arena, then Saturday planning to hack ( snow permitting) Sunday due a flatwork lesson but if snow , then will get postponed as ground will be too slippy :-( good luck to all those out competing and am crossing fingers snow stays away !

My weekend started early with hiring the indoor at Merrist Wood!

Ed's first time indoors and first trip out since July so I'm very pleased with the baby ex-racer!

The lovely ridden behaviour made up for deciding to bog off around the car park when i was putting his bridle on! Luckily I had the martingale and reins over his head so I got skii'd around until my instructor rescued us! The lovely ladies with their very well-behaved horses thought it was hilarious- so embarrassing!

Leaning forward to give him a pat in this one- I don't usually lean that far forward!

Got a nice bit of video too, but not sure how to add it on to a post!

Lesson on Saturday morning; if you can call 10h00 the morning... The weather looks like a risk of drizzle and 5°C, and we'll be going over low jumps, possibly with change of rein between, OR counter-canter. At last, something a little bit more technical than what we've been doing lately!

OH is setting off on Sunday to go the US for work for a week. The forecast for where she's going is cold and clear, but then on Wednesday, between 12 and 20 cm of snow!

Snow / windy hailstones are here :( looks like lesson will be cancelled this morning . Can't expect my poor instructor to teach in this . Weather is on and off but can guarantee it'll come on heavy at lesson o'clock .Question is , do I cancel tomorrow today , or wait for venue to decide ? How do you decide ? Could wait to see what weather is doing in morning but wouldn't want to be stuck out in it . Nag dammit .

That's another lesson I've had to cancel - really need some jumping practise but I just am not prepared to tow in this wind :( come on spring!!!
