Before I go to look...

Please just walk away - it is clearly a dealer and a million miles from a private sale - the poor horse is only worth meat money, and that isn't much these days. I am totally gobsmacked that people I have followed and respect their knowledge on here, are advising you go and see the horse! Why bother????...you wont be able to insure ANY horse that has been paid out on LOU - full stop. Give 6 months ownership and you will be posting on here what can you do as you cant pay the vet bills on the poor animal and PTS is the only option left to you.

Well the advert wasn’t posted originally, just a brief description, unless I was completely blind??

Yes looks like dealer bait so avoid.

But you can get insurance on a LOU (although obviously exclusions for the reason they were LOU), I know that because I own an insured LOU horse.

I maintain though, that some suspensory injuries would be worth viewing and taking a punt on. But obviously you need to know what you are doing and not be risk averse.

ok SLH. 2 for you horsequest ref 208011 16 h shire type 8yrs £4500 looks like the type you want but a bit over budget
ref 207922 15.3 cob 11 years £3750

both in the south east so a long journey but could look at both on 1 visit

I think I recognise the rider as Bradley Mills who advertises on fb. Don’t know anything about him but like another poster people who don’t wear hats jump out at me

Have found him on Facebook and the photos are very similar to those in his adverts (although I cannot find this horse on Facebook). Seems to sell horses who look unfit, under weight and cheap 😞. I'd avoid SLH, unfortunately I think this horse will cost you money and heartbreak down the line.

What makes you think it's American? The barn, the wording, or something else? I presumed it was written by a UK-based American, or someone who's very into their western riding and therefore likes the slang! I also know people with a very similar looking barn complex in the UK (but they're very western-y type people with a strong US influence, who built their own place - serious money!).

eta - I've met a couple of Chilean horses in the UK too, imported. One I met was from Chile, via Argentina, in the UK, but based in Finland! It's not common, but it does happen.

The wording, it looks like a copy and paste from an american ad.

he is the coolest ride around!! He is an impressive horse with a wonderful personality and temperament. He is the "in your pocket" sweet-hearted type, but still respectful! He will be the coolest look horse anywhere you go!was originally started by a reining trainer and has since been a full-time trail horse! He has a great stop, smooth jog and awesome short smooth lope! He has been broke to a rope and worked the hot heels and live cattle. He is a great trail riding horse, great in traffic and commotion.would be an awesome parade horse! He is easy to catch, lead, load, haul, stands tied, easy to clip, bathe, groom, pick feet, saddle, bridle, and quiet for the vet and farrier. Stands for mount and dismount!picks up both of his leads, backs up, side passes, and works a gate.if interested contact and send your email address in the massage you won't find a cooler horse!

How many people would advertise a horse in the UK as having worked the hot heels? No one would know what that means. If its not a scam it is the oddest ad I have ever seen.

Western riding fanatics perhaps

You are thinking of buying a horse which has or has had suspensory issues. That is obviously one issue that will come with the horse. Secondly it comes with LOU, that is another issue it will come with. You will have 2 unwanted issues should you go through with the purchase. Insurance wise the suspensory history will probably mean at best you will get an exclusion clause on the affected leg. The LOU on the horse may actually prevent you getting any company to give you any cover whatsoever on the horse. Please before you make any decisions you need to see what vets have said about the suspensory & you may need it scanned to actually see what the condition is at present. The owner may have had a scan done following treatment & it may show it is entirely repaired? Also speak to several insurance companies & see what their views are regarding any cover they would offer to you for the horse. If you cannot get insurance, & you are not wealthy, then you may have to decide no.

SLH...after all the confusion from the last thread I thought you were going to take a step back for a while?

Glad I am not completely losing the plot!!
Tbh I think we’re all beginning to lose the plot on here! Not least SLH’s ‘sane’ friend for suggesting she go look at a broken and knackered old horse at a low end dealer, eek. I’m sure one of the horses later linked to was based near Dallas,Tx. There was an option to put your postcode in and get a quote for shipping. Wonder what the quote would have been?

Oh dear - what do they say? If seems too good to be true it probably is! Horse head is visible if you tilt phone but not the best photo. I assumed English was not their first language.

I think you need to put a bit less faith in your 'sane' friend, if she's recommending you go see that poor sod. That's just asking for a big, fat, uninsurable vets bill shortly down the line.
