John Whitaker's horse Lactic II does not like water (granted he has become better with it in the Derby over the past few years) but he is still taken to classes with water jumps.I cannot imagin John not taking Lactic to a class because it has a water jump in it, even if there is only one of them. (So yes slightly different to the ditches but even so).
If the horse has a problem with a certain type of jump then it is how it is handled and prepared for that jump at home and how they are ridden which will determain how they act towards it in a class.
I would think work is all the mare needs, to gain her confidence with ditches and not disregarded stright off from ever entering the derby because it doesn't like ditches.
If you get me?
