Hi everyone, there is alady in my area that is doing berefoot shoeing well trimming? i spoke to her and she was very confident and yes it made sense, so i thought i would ask my farrier what he thought yes the replie NOT HAPPY!!! He said that if you want to try berefoot then he would help me with it and monitor my horses feet for me and if it didn t work out then we would go back to shoes, i thought that was really fare deal!!!!! when i asked my farrier why he was so upset about these barefoot trimmers he said it took him years of hard work to be a qualified farrier which in GB they are very stricked!!!!!! not only trained to be doing the shoeing but years of studying the horses foot and how it works and lameness working with vets and corrective shoeing, now it made sense i did my research and it only takes 3months for a barefoot trimmer to be qualified!!!! that anserwed my question too!!! who do i choose my own farrier with years of experience to someone who done a quick course.. my farrier always comes first!!!!! and is heaps cheaper too!!!!

If you are tempted by anyone regarding barefoot trimming speak to your own farrier whom you have already i was so taken in by it but im sooooooo
glad that i stayed with the farrier i have had for many many years!!!!!!!!

??? Surely they are unshod (BAREFOOT) or shod.

There are good trimmers and bad, same as there are good farriers and bad.

A trimmer doesn't qualify to shoe (which is what a farrier qualifies for).

Horses for courses at the end of the day.

WTF? I can't even decipher what this thread is supposed to be about. What on earth is "berefoot shoeing"? Is it a new type of shoeing that we've not yet heard of?

Now I remember why I haven't been on here for a long time. OP gives her/his opinion on a subject and the p**s takers come out of the woodwork.
Why oh why, when a person posts on a certain subject, can there not be some sort of constructive reply instead of this infantile behaviour, which to be honest is beyond the pale.

Rant over

Having had a look at Op's other posts...

Fuzzle, why not use the Search function and have a look for Barefoot? There's 1,000's of posts on the subject, and some of them are even informative. :-)

p.s. All this !!!!! is a bit irritating. !!!

Peter when you have been on the forum for a little while longer, if you stay, you will find that very, very often when a very new poster, like this one, writes something which is so obviously angling for a fight, that they are a troll.

The poster isn't asking for advice, he/she is just having a completely ill informed rant and warning people off barefoot trimmers with no justification whatsoever except that her farrier told her not to use one. Surprise surprise, he stands to lose upto eighty quid from her, he's not likely to recommend a barefoot trimmer, is he.

When someone posts such nonsense, the gloves are off, sorry.

I think you will find Littlelegs was quoting the OP:p

I think he's having a go at the fact that she used "your", instead of "you're" ;)

Anyway are we going to have a civilised discussion on this berefoot shoeing or are you going to continue to take the mickey ? Apparently we have to discuss this in an adult manner....new law of the forum it would seem :)

Hi everyone. There is a lady in my area who is doing barefoot trimming. I spoke to her and she said was very confident. Who do I choose my own farrier with years of experience or someone who done a quick course? My farrier always comes first and is much cheaper too!

If you are tempted by anyone regarding barefoot trimming speak to your own farrier. I was so taken in by the barefoot trimmer. I am glad that i stayed with the farrier i have had for many many years.

I have corrected some spelling and grammar. This post should now be easier to read!

I thought that was quite funny. I only went looking for a barefoot trimmer because I couldn't find a good new farrier after mine moved. I'm thankful I made the change though. Can't be arsed saying the same old things again though, sometimes I do think the Search facility is worth a look, particularly when it's likely the topic has been discussed before.

Peter026- I was actually mocking the concept of barefoot shoeing, i'm unsure how you'd manage that? Thankyou for pointing out my use of your instead of you're, tend to do that a lot with predictive text. If the op wants genuine views on the subject then perhaps posting in a way that suggests his/her mind is already made up is not the best way to go about it.

Oh goodie goodie, more troll hunting, I must go and fetch my blunderbuss.

Choked on my caramel egg when I read that... :D

Well...the OP isn't looking for any advice or discussion as s/he/it has already made their mind up... It doesn't appear to be anything more than a "knock the barefoot trimmers/supporters" post...

And I'm saying that as someone quite happy with my farrier's approach and often driven to distraction by the more evangelical 'every single horse should be barefoot or suffer the numerous adverse consequences' type opinions...

Clearly it means that the person trimming the feet is not wearing any shoes.

I am off to go and get my troll net....

No it's where the farrier putting on the shoes is wearing nothing on his feet perhaps socks does anyone know if the farrier can wear socks ? and still be barefoot shoeing.

The OP is quite entitled to start a thread about her opinion with a view to furthering debate.
Of course, because her English is not degree level and the subject matter is not endorsed by the Barefoot clique, she is apparently open season for ridicule.
I think her mistake was not realising that those who shout loudest think their opinions are more valid than anyone else's.

FWIW, this is not Barefoot Horse And Hound, although, new posters could be forgiven for thinking that, judging by the prolific amount of posts by a small number of forum members.

Respect for others costs nothing, if you don't like the topic, either be constructive or move on to something more worthy of your time.
