berefoot shoeing do you agree or disagree???

I will only put my horses in legwarmers made from organic wool shorn from the backs of Nepalese sheep who live on the southern side of the Himalayas, and only AFTER that wool has been blessed by Pat Parelli, anything else is really just abuse.

Please can someone tell me where I can get some socks for my horse? Are they thick enough for her to wear in bed?
What colours do they come in? Hope they do them in pink!!

I am sorry I cant help with this it's farriers transition socks that I know about the farriers can how ever wear the socks in bed if you liked.

Perhaps I misread your post - sorry...............shame, I was getting excited about buying some socks for my horse.
Now, farriers wearing socks in bed.......depends on what the farrier looks like naked I guess? ;-D
 
FWIW Carleberg contains lot of cheap and nasty bulking agents which cause considerable dicomfort to the barefoot farrier, namly in term of soreness in the head and excess gas. Many people stick them on paracetamol and continue to work them, but in the truly barefoot and butt naked farrier gas is an unavoidable side effect of Carelesberg.

The way to persuade a farrier to go barefoot is by using appropriate persuasion techniques. Namely, to grab him by the carrot stick and to place him in the hyperflexion position. ;)
 
Skint1- at last someone with some common sense. All leg warmers need to be blessed, I never imagined anyone would be silly enough not to realise this. Remember to make the sign of the hoof during the blessing, the parelli, the leg warmer & the holy barefeet farrier.

Well, I have been around farriers for years and years and years, I have never ever had one have a problem with Carlsberg before, they all, without fail, love it and do well on it. Yes they can occasionally fall over but, as long as they are wearing their leg warmers, no harm has ever come to them.

I think the trouble stems from people not really having proper experience and over farriering themselves.

Well!!!!! I couldn't disagree more!!! I bet your farriers have all had shoes on, and that's why you haven't seen the effect that Carelesberg has on them, its like giving sweets to a diabetic. Okay, so the OCCASIONAL barefoot farrier might cope well with a few pints.

I do agree with people over farriering themselves though.
 
Hang on a minute. Do I need to get leg warmers for my nags? Thats 12 leg warmers! Oh jesus. :-( And who blesses them? Can I get my local vicar to do it?
 
Not leg warmers for the horses, who cares what they wear. Leg warmers for the farrier if he is going through the transitional period to barefoot. A fully qualified barefoot shoer comes complete with his own legwarmers. You need HRH parelli to bless the legwarmers if providing them yourself.
 
Bugger that. My farrier will strip off for the opening of an envelope. Thank god. Dont need to bless anything. He brings his own spandex pink leg warmers. I know. Dont ask. . .

Make sure you use the woodchip litter. The gravel isn't good enough and as for the crystals - he's have multicolored feet and what if it clashed with the legwarmers????? Also it may get under his toenails. You don't want to lame the poor chap.

Which is why 'slightly' used cat litter is best, stops the little sharp bits getting under the farrier's toenails :) although he may object to the smell which tends to hang around :(
 
Ok, got farrier on carlsberg, doing exceptionally well. Is balanced on the tray of bubbly pea-gravel with the fish (doing wonders for his prunes) but I have a sneaky suspicion he has athletes foot.... will this kill my fish?

No they will be fine, it's actually quite good for them - protein you know :)

I wouldn't bother about him objecting to the smell myself. It will be gone by the time he visits your yard again :) Just whack him with the carrot stick and he will be fine. Failing that IV Carlsberg works wonders
 
If he objects to the smell of the cat litter then use night nurse as a sedative while you load him into the litter tray. For loading tips take him to a show. Many people will come forward & volunteer their foolproof methods to load him in the litter tray.

Do i have to supply the farriers' apprentices as well or does he do that!?
 
I'm not sure, but I don't think the apprentices are allowed to wear the legwarmers until they are fully qualified. Can someone correct me on that?
 
Not sure as I am not the authority, however, there is a rumour amongst young apprentices that only nylon leg warmers are permitted. It's causing an uproar and some are threatening strike action!!

It's time to stock up on the woolly ones, if you still have room in the bathtub amongst the pasties, stamps and diesel.
 
Apprentices manage quite well barefooted & barelegged. They all start out barefoot but when they start shoeing themselves, many people mistake their carlsberg induced limping as a need for shoes & provide footwear. Left to themselves an apprentice will develop the correct toe shape to continue barefoot shoeing.

I'm not surprised they are in uproar Tallyho. Nylon legwarmers when they sweat will certainly give them a nasty case of mud fever. Natural fibre or nothing, surely?.

Yes and I'd have to agree with them! There are indications that the union is going to make a decision whether to strike or not before half term.... Providing discussions with the Ministry of Toerags goes according to plan.
