I'm looking at the Thematex rugs and bit confused as to the best post exercise rug to help wick away sweat and moisure in the colder months. Also something to double up at a show perhaps ?

Any suggestions or recommendations appreciated. Pony is 5ft 9" size

Thanks

Very little can beat the thermatex - which is why the command the price they do. The weatherbeeta "Coolex" is almost as good but not as long lasting.

I've never found the exact science to it - but some fleeces wick brilliantly and some less so. The best one I've ever had is a ruggles fleece which wicks so well you can see moisture forming in beads on the surface. (Watch the sizing on ruggles though - it can be erratic) I've a Hunter rug which does the same and has a lighter mesh lower half which is great for drying without overheating in the depths of winter. Bizarrely those fleeces you can get from time to time in Lidl also wick very well - but have no surcingles so not best for use overnight.

thermatex are fab.
Two lighter weight coolers that I also like very much for my natives are bucas power coolers and good old waffle-weaves (get acrylic, they dry ponies quickly)

Thermatexs are fantastic I can not imagine life without them .
I use the light weight ones or nothing for travelling most of the year .

another vote for thermatex. Have a look on ebay or preloved etc if cost is a factor, there are usually some available second hand and they wash up so well.
